Electrochromic effect refers to the electrically tunable coloration of a matter. Emerging see-through color-tunable applications pose synergetic demand on electrochromic device, concurrently having ultralow field driving, operation in transmissive mode, and high-purity interference colors sci-fi perception. However, such an device remains elusive. Herein, we invent electro-interference-color based two-dimensional titania liquid crystals (2D TiO 2 LCs), demonstrating record-high electroresponse sensitivity ~1.5 × 10 −7 square meters per volt among all wide-bandgap media. Consequently, works under electric 6 3 volts meter (three orders magnitude lower than that conventional operates mode with ~85% transparency, displays pure colors. The serves as good example fabricate diverse chromatic conceptually demonstrated smart windows functions privacy protection, energy saving, artistic presentation well transparent display.

Responsive photonic crystals (RPCs) presenting tunable structural colors under external stimuli are widely applied in the fields of dynamic displays, sensors, and anticounterfeiting. However, development multiresponsive crystal (MRPC) films possessing versatile variable optical properties remains a significant challenge due to tedious synthetic procedure multifunctional building blocks complex assembly processes, thereby constraining their extensive applications. In present work, series soft nanospheres with hydrophobic cores responsive hydrophilic shells have been synthesized by facile one-step surfactant-free emulsion polymerization method. The MRPC patterns were then prepared depositing nanosphere emulsions onto 3D-printed substrates topological structure followed drying at room temperature. deformed fused each other, resulting formation transparent film patterns. exhibited brilliant color wet state but lost again after complete drying. Such reversible was ascribed change refractive index (RI) shell layers according wetting/drying shifting. Moreover, on-demand designed could rapidly respond temperature, pH, organic solvents manner, multichannel encrypted security labels also demonstrated. Abstract Photonic crystals (PCs) with unique light manipulation capability have attracted widespread attentions. However, weak photonic bandgaps, poor structural color saturation, and tedious preparation process restrict their further development practical application. Herein, an ultra‐bright stimuli‐responsive PC film excellent optical performance is prepared by assembly of cadmium sulfide@polyacrylic acid (CdS@PAA) core–shell nanoparticles into PCs through molecule‐mediated shearing‐induced technique (MSAT), this fabrication fast facile, the solid periodic micro/nano‐structures can be formed within 10 s, a wide selection range obtained. The high refractive index CdS guarantees brightness films. prerequisite using MSAT for large‐sized that CdS@PAA possess appropriate thickness PAA shell. Compared conventional PCs, films present strong bandgaps relative reflectance up to 130% compared standard aluminum mirror, which more than four times reflectivity PS@PAA microspheres. In addition, paint mashing blending it transparent polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) matrix, coating alkali treated pigments achieve good water response ability anticounterfeiting effect.
