Abstract Water-soluble fluorescent N-doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs) were hydrothermally prepared through a green synthesis route using castor seeds as single precursor and hydrothermal method. Several experimental techniques have been used to characterize synthesized N-CQDs confirm their structure verify applicability in cell imaging pH sensing. The found are characterized by amorphous nature with spherical shape an average particle size of 6.57 nm revealed from XRD TEM measurements. FTIR results reveal the presence carboxylic hydroxyl functional groups on surface CQDs, which was also confirmed XPS analysis. fluorescence characterization showed blue emission excitation dependence good photostability. It that optimal wavelengths (λ Ex = 360) Em 432) nm, respectively. yield (QY) about 9.6% at optimum wavelength 360 nm. Moreover, intensity linear values ranges 3.5 − 7.5 8 12 well high sensitivity for slight changes values. According these results, two sensors created based acidic basic media. obtained zeta potential -21.86 mV thus excellent stability water. derived antimicrobial activity exhibits low cytotoxicity WI-13 cells IC 50 394.4 ± 13.8 µg/mL. this study demonstrated can be sensing materials. On other hand, they promising applications imaging, thermo-sensing optoelectronics.

nowadays, the photoacoustic imaging is in mainstream of cancer theranostics. In this study nanoparticles with previously proven properties, i.e. glucose-ethylenediamine carbon dots (GE-NPs), were tested for therapy. nanoparticle biocompatibility was analyzed cell toxicity and neurotoxicity experiments ex vivo. Biochemical parameters animal vivo after intramuscular implantation Lewis Lung carcinoma cells into C57/Black mouse line. GE-NPs at concentrations 0.1–1.0 mg/ml did not change extracellular level, exocytotic transporter-mediated release, as well initial rate uptake accumulation L-[14C]glutamate isolated rat brain nerve terminals. GE-NP-treated mice had evidence probable protection liver attenuating systemic consequences tumor growth, evidenced by normalization serum aspartate aminotransferase (ASAT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels, compared to vehicle-dosed tumor-bearing animals. According hematological analysis, treatment caused an increase red blood hematocrit up healthy control levels. When a combination (1 mg/ml) injected irradiated laser beam, it leads survival more than 30% GE-NPs-treated non-irradiated mice, decrease growth cancerous tumor. The observed therapeutic effect can be related photoacoustically-induced destruction significantly enhanced presence incorporated GE-NPs, because laser-induced localized heating skin has exceeded 2 °C. efficiency therapy using biocompatible demonstrated. Biocompatible own multimodal potential theranostics, including both therapy, applying different irradiation conditions.

Abstract Carbon dots are regarded as a brand new class of nanostructures in the carbonaceous family that have piqued curiosity researchers wide range bio applications. This work focuses on synthesis and characterization carbon dots, well their latent fingerprint detection antibacterial/antifungal capabilities. Highly luminous were prepared by optimizing simple hydrothermal carbonization settings at 180 °C for 12 h using lemon juice raw precursor. The resulting product was examined Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, diffractometery, ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometer. as-prepared found to be extremely bright when excited under ultraviolet light ( λ = 365 nm). presence oxygen functionalities surface revealed spectrocopy. diffraction pattern confirmed amorphous structure with an average size 7 nm determined Scherrer equation. morphology analysis exhibited aggregated form irregular spherical shapes. chemical examination validated elemental makeup juice-based dots. fingerprints yielded positive results. In addition, obtained displayed antifungal antibacterial activity against tested pathogenic fungal bacterial strains.
