This study explores the surface chemistry and electrical responses of ultra-high-sensitivity SnO2 MEMS arrays to enable a novel sequential detection methodology for detecting nitrogen dioxide (NO2) ethanol (C2H5OH) as route achieve selective gas sensing in electronic nose (E-nose) applications. Utilizing tin oxide (SnO2) thin films deposited via atomic layer deposition (ALD), array achieves lowest reported limits 8 parts per billion (ppb) NO2. The research delves into mechanisms NO2 C2H5OH, both individually subsequent exposures, assessing sensor’s dynamic response across various operating temperatures. It demonstrates rapid recovery times, with averages 48 s 277 40 C2H5OH. Understanding role individual gases on is paramount discerning exposure behavior. oxidizing behavior C2H5OH following attributed interactions between oxygen vacancies surface, which leads formation nitrate or nitrite species. These species subsequently influence inducing properties, need be carefully considered. Principal component analysis (PCA) was used further improve capability precisely identify quantify mixtures, improving its applicability real-time monitoring complex scenarios.
