Structured Abstract Introduction Prior mental health care utilization presents an important window of opportunity for providing suicide prevention interventions. To date, no reviews have consolidated the help-seeking needs individuals in contact with services. This warrants further attention given this group may different interventions compared to general population who not sought help previously. Abstract Aim(s) To assess barriers and facilitators to seeking inpatient psychiatric treatment among transgender nonbinary people. Design Qualitative interview study. Methods Semi‐structured interviews were conducted from March 2019 June 2022 with people admitted an hospital in the United States during past 5 years. Data analysed using thematic analysis constructed within a modified social‐ecological model of stigma. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) youth of color experience high rates mental health disorders, yet they challenges to accessing services. Background: While limited data has been collected, some findings show that sexual and gender minority (SGM) students are at higher risk for dropping out of college than their peers. Research on issues such as campus connectedness mental health among this population indicates both may affect retention. Aim: This study examined how perceptions mediate the relationship between SGM identification intentions to drop college. Methods: Survey collected from 1,793 randomly selected across eight different public universities in Mississippi were used conduct a parallel mediation analysis. Results: Mediation analyses indicated there was significant direct effect identity out, mediators had indirect effect. Psychiatric symptoms relatively larger connectedness. Conclusions: These results contribute quantitative literature student retention, supporting previous work indicating these attrition.
