Inflammation plays a pivotal role in the age-related decline of skeletal muscle mass, leading to sarcopenia elderly. The prevalence notably increases among males aged ≥ 70. However, it remains unclear whether inflammatory indexes are associated with reduction mass elderly population. Thirty-one 70, without severe diseases or dementia, were enrolled study. They underwent measurements, physical and hematological tests at onset study after one-year follow-up. Twenty-eight participants successfully followed for one year. Appendicular index (ASMI) decreased by 3.30 ± 2.41% 14 increased 2.66 1.61% other compared baseline levels. neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) was 2.14 0.56 ASMI-decreased group 1.66 0.62 ASMI-increased group. Programmed cell death has crucial roles in the physiological maturation of an organism, maintenance metabolism, and disease progression. Pyroptosis, a form programmed which recently received much attention, is closely related to inflammation occurs via canonical, non-canonical, caspase-3-dependent, unclassified pathways. The pore-forming gasdermin proteins mediate pyroptosis by promoting lysis, contributing outflow large amounts inflammatory cytokines cellular contents. Cell death occurs continuously throughout individual development. By removing damaged or senescent cells, cell not only facilitates morphogenesis during the developmental process, but also contributes to maintaining homeostasis after birth. In addition, reduces spread of pathogens by eliminating infected cells. is categorized into two main forms: necrosis and programmed death. Programmed encompasses several types, including autophagy, pyroptosis, apoptosis, necroptosis, ferroptosis, PANoptosis. Autophagy, a mechanism that maintains cellular equilibrium via breakdown reutilization proteins organelles, implicated in regulating almost all forms pathological contexts. Abstract The association between the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and risk of sarcopenia has not yet been revealed. purpose this study was to investigate relationship SII in individuals aged 18–59 years. All data for are from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database, including 7258 participants (age range: years). We divided values by quartiles (quartiles 1–4: 0.3–3.1, 3.2–4.4, 4.4–6.2, 6.2–58.5). constructed a multivariate logistic regression model assess sarcopenia, an interaction test run stability identify high-risk with sarcopenia. Compared nonsarcopenia participants, patients had significantly higher value (weighted average: 6.65 vs. 5.16) ( P = 0.002). Multivariate results showed positive linear (OR [odds ratio] 1.12, 95% CI [confidence interval] 1.03–1.21). quartile 1 group, 4 group associated 3.94, 1.42–10.94). OR 2 groups upwards trend < 0.001) as level increased. Subgroup analysis also indicate that correlation stable. There significant indicating can increase United States. findings will be beneficial promoting use alone or combination other tools screening communities large populations.
