Abstract The road freight sector faces significant challenges in decarbonisation, driven by high energy demand and limited availability of low-emission fuels commercialised zero-emission vehicles. This study investigates intangible costs associated with advanced electric hydrogen-powered trucks, including recharging/refuelling time, cargo capacity limitations, buyer reluctance towards emerging technologies. Utilising a comprehensive whole-systems modelling approach considering low- fuels, inter-sectoral dynamics, the carbon budget, we explore cost-optimal decarbonisation pathways for heavy, medium, light trucks. Scenario sensitivity analyses reveal following insights: (1) Electric trucks dominate market under mitigation across all weight categories. However, inclusion triggers shift, leading to emergence hydrogen fuel cell vehicles heavy while battery are preferred medium small (2) Prioritising truck taking early action crucial avoid lock-in effects. (3) Considering options, where hydrogen-fuelled pivotal, this research highlights significance policy instruments targeting operational expenditures over conventional purchase price incentives. Such policies offer dual benefits supporting owners directing incentives more precisely achieving measurable emission reductions.

Two-dimensional (2D) metal-organic framework (MOF) membranes are considered potential gas separation of the next generation due to their structural diversity and geometrical functionality. However, achieving a rational structure design for 2D MOF membrane understanding impact nanosheet stacking modes on performance remain challenging tasks. Here, we report novel kind based [Cu2 Br(IN)2 ]n (IN=isonicotinato) nanosheets propose that synergetic have significant influence performance. The is controlled by solvent droplet dynamic behaviors at different temperatures drop coating. Our exhibit high performances H2 /CH4 (selectivity >290 with permeance >520 GPU) /CO2 >190 >590 surpassing Robeson upper bounds, paving way eco-friendly separation.
