Abstract The 2001 (first) edition of this Handbook was a comprehensive review history, research, and discussions on religion health through the year 2000. Appendix listed 1,200 separate quantitative studies each rated in quality 0–10 scale, followed by about 2,000 references an extensive index for rapid topic identification. 2012 (second) systematically updated research from 2000 to 2010, with number then reaching thousands. This 2023 (third) is most scientifically rigorous date, covering best published 2021 emphasis prospective randomized controlled trials. Beginning Foreword Dr. Howard K. Koh, former US Assistant Secretary Health Department Human Services, nearly 600,000-word volume examines almost every aspect health, reviewing past more recent relationship between outcomes. Furthermore, all its 34 chapters conclude clinical community applications, making text relevant both healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, counselors, psychologists, sociologists, etc.) clergy (community clergy, chaplains, pastoral etc.). book’s focuses studies, describing study single line, allowing researchers quickly locate existing research. It should not be surprising that two decades has been cited health.

Oxidative stress and inflammation have been recognized as important contributors to the risk of chronic non-communicable diseases. Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) may regulate antioxidant signaling pathway modulate inflammatory processes. They also influence hepatic lipid metabolism physiological responses other organs, including heart. Longitudinal prospective cohort studies demonstrate that there is an association between moderate intake omega-6 PUFA linoleic acid lower cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), most likely a result blood cholesterol concentration. Current evidence suggests increasing arachidonic (up 1500 mg/day) has no adverse effect on platelet aggregation clotting, immune function markers inflammation, but benefit muscle cognitive performance. Many show higher intakes omega-3 PUFAs, especially eicosapentaenoic (EPA) docosahexaenoic (DHA), are associated with incidence characterized by elevated CVDs. This because multiple molecular cellular actions EPA DHA. Intervention trials using + DHA indicate CVD mortality significant inverse linear dose-response relationship found outcomes. In addition their anti-inflammatory roles, considered homeostasis thrombosis, which together potential use in COVID-19 therapy.

Glutathione (GSH) is the most abundant non-protein thiol present at millimolar concentrations in mammalian tissues. As an important intracellular antioxidant, it acts as a regulator of cellular redox state protecting cells from damage caused by lipid peroxides, reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, xenobiotics. Recent studies have highlighted importance GSH key signal transduction reactions controller cell differentiation, proliferation, apoptosis, ferroptosis immune function. Molecular changes antioxidant system disturbances homeostasis been implicated tumor initiation, progression, treatment response. Hence, has both protective pathogenic roles. Although healthy crucial for removal detoxification carcinogens, elevated levels are associated with progression increased resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs. Recently, several novel therapies developed target tumors means response decreased drug resistance. In this comprehensive review we explore mechanisms functionalities different therapeutic approaches that either directly, indirectly or use GSH-based prodrugs. Consideration also given computational methods used describe related processes silico testing effects.

BackgroundThe medium-term effects of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on organ health, exercise capacity, cognition, quality life and mental health are poorly understood.MethodsFifty-eight COVID-19 patients post-hospital discharge 30 age, sex, body mass index comorbidity-matched controls were enrolled for multiorgan (brain, lungs, heart, liver kidneys) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), spirometry, six-minute walk test, cardiopulmonary test (CPET), life, cognitive assessments.FindingsAt 2–3 months from disease-onset, 64% experienced breathlessness 55% reported fatigue. On MRI, abnormalities seen in lungs (60%), heart (26%), (10%) kidneys (29%). Patients exhibited changes the thalamus, posterior thalamic radiations sagittal stratum brain MRI demonstrated impaired performance, specifically executive visuospatial domains. The gut microbiota encompasses a diverse community of bacteria that carry out various functions influencing the overall health host. These comprise nutrient metabolism, immune system regulation and natural defence against infection. presence certain is associated with inflammatory molecules may bring about inflammation in body tissues. Inflammation underlies many chronic multisystem conditions including obesity, atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes mellitus bowel disease. be triggered by structural components which can result cascade pathways involving interleukins other cytokines. Abstract Aging is characterized by systemic chronic inflammation, which accompanied cellular senescence, immunosenescence, organ dysfunction, and age-related diseases. Given the multidimensional complexity of aging, there an urgent need for a systematic organization inflammaging through dimensionality reduction. Factors secreted senescent cells, known as senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), promote inflammation can induce senescence in normal cells. At same time, accelerates immune resulting weakened function inability to clear cells inflammatory factors, creates vicious cycle senescence.
