Keeping it real: integrating critical media literacy education in a U.S. public school DOI Open Access

An informed and active citizenry underpins democratic life society, freedom of opinion expression embedded in the consumption creation media are essential fundamental human rights. However, knowledge, skills, attitudes needed to navigate within systems power structures-the work critical literacy-are not innate. Young people must be deliberately taught become critically literate order partake productive civic engagement. This qualitative action research study sought inform justification for thoughtfully planned integration literacy education into middle high school subject area curricula. Participants Cycle 1 consisted secondary level teachers students who shared their experiences with competencies through surveys, focus groups, interviews. Data collection analysis led 2 steps, during which three representing different areas co-created field tested a simple, clear, operational tool incorporate courses. collaborators provided feedback that assisted evaluation process, included thorough assessment tool's practicality functionality. The concluded could integrated courses system comprising simplifying, clarifying, operationalizing literacy, such as Media Quick Takes, conjunction one-on-one coaching specialist. ABSTRACTGenerative Artificial Intelligence (AI), such as ChatGPT by OpenAI, has revolutionized the business world, with benefits including improved accessibility, efficiency, and cost reduction. This article reviews recent developments of generative AI in finance, summarizes its practical applications, provides examples latest tools, demonstrates that can revolutionize data analysis industry academia. Geoengineering techniques such as solar radiation management (SRM) could be part of a future technology portfolio to limit global temperature change. However, there is public opposition research and deployment SRM technologies. We use 814,924 English-language tweets containing #geoengineering globally over 13 years (2009-2021) explore emotions, perceptions, attitudes toward using natural language processing, deep learning, network analysis. find that specific conspiracy theories influence reactions geoengineering, especially regarding "chemtrails" (whereby airplanes allegedly spray poison or modify weather through contrails). Furthermore, conspiracies tend spillover, shaping regional debates in the UK, USA, India, Sweden connecting with broader political considerations. also positive emotions rise on both country scales following events related governance, negative neutral increase projects announcements experiments. Finally, we online toxicity shapes breadth spillover effects, further influencing anti-SRM views.

Following the Paris agreement, different policy incentives aiming at reduction of carbon emissions have been introduced worldwide. Dwellings that benefit from increased renewables penetration, achieving net-zero and even net-positive energy balance, are being designed deployed in countries. This article presents a design mixed-methods approach, based on collected quantitative qualitative data, to answer "what", "why" "how" prosumption dwellings. We demonstrate strong influence domestic routines dynamic import export pricing explaining energy-centric deviation ambitions. Findings neighbourhood households, equipped with geothermal heating, solar generation electric vehicles, Norway further provide actionable insights demand-side flexibility consumption how achieve true balance. Specifically, our analysis demonstrates significant gap between actual bills user expectations, potential cost up 10% per-activity basis through demand side relation tariffs as well maximum observed bill 50% compared baseline scenario for households not adapting their activities inline tariffs.
