Background Given that nighttime sleep has more recuperative power than daytime sleep, ensuring the former is important to recovery from work, especially for shift-working nurses. In this 1-month log study, we preliminarily examined how number of monthly nighttime-sleep opportunities relates fatigue-related outcomes among Methods 526 nurses were required record their daily duration immediately after waking 1 month. We analysed associations four groups (ie, ≤ 12, 13–19, 20–24 and≥24 per month) and outcomes. A one-way analysis covariance or generalised linear mixed model (factor: group) was conducted using R (version 4.2.2.) test association. Results Significant differences obtained excessive fatigue symptom inventory (EFSI), Pittsburgh quality index (PSQI) numbers near-miss incidents. Moreover, significant trends observed in EFSI PSQI scores. Conclusions Shift-working who experienced 12 fewer showed worse those had sufficient opportunities. Therefore, attention should be paid when creating a shift schedule.

Depression is a severe mental disorder, and patients suffering from depression differ significantly those in the control group terms of electroencephalogram (EEG) signal complexity. Although most existing studies have focused on overall complexity analysis, very few explored characteristics decomposition perspective. In this paper, we propose to apply fast Fourier transform method resolve nonlinear feature differences (total differences, TDs) between task resting eye-open states decompose them into spectral (STs), phase (PTs), interaction (SITs). The selected features include Lempel–Ziv (LZC), permutation entropy (PE), basic scale (BSE). experimental data were obtained public datasets OpenNeuro website, including resting-state task-state datasets, involving EEG 46 depressed 74 controls. results indicated that TDs STs lower than frontal region, while SIT was higher region central region. PT but temporal regions. addition, two groups exhibited opposite trends across states. Entropy LZC, PE, BSE effectively differentiated patients, with distinguishing highest number channels. These may provide an important reference for clinical diagnosis treatment depression.
