Here, we demonstrate a new electrochemical sensing mechanism of ammonium ions (NH4+) involving two-electron oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and hydrazine reaction. The NH4+ are electrooxidized to by H2O2 derived from the ORR over self-supporting Ag/TiO2 nanotube array composite electrode modified hematite (Ag/Fe2O3/TNTs). Ag/Fe2O3/TNT sensor exhibits high sensitivity 1876 µA mM-1 cm-2 with detection limit 0.18 µM under non-alkaline conditions, short response time 3 s, good reproducibility, fine selectivity among various interferents, is also successfully used in real water bodies display accuracy. Furthermore, this has certain universality range Ag (main catalyst)/transition metal oxide (cocatalyst)/TNT systems. This work offers design basis for urgently needed ammonia nitrogen sensors.

Abstract Thin‐film fluorescent sensors play critical roles in the gas sensing field. However, materials for practical applications are limited, because of aggregation‐caused quenching (ACQ) effect and photobleaching. This study investigates a host–guest thin‐film fluorescence sensor by incorporating probe into metal–organic framework (MOF). The molecule Me 4 BOPHY‐1 acts as recognition neurotoxin analog diethylchlorophosphite (DCP). MOF (ZIF‐8) provides nanocavities confinement guest molecules, which reduces self‐aggregation molecules pre‐enriches target gas. By applying ZIF‐8 to disperse ACQ can be effectively overcome. quantum efficiency is increased from 0.76% 19.72%, enables its ability with fast response time 3 s detection limit low 1.13 ppb. Besides, facilitates selectivity enhancement through effect, weakening interference HCl. Moreover, also ensures high photo‐stability well thermal stability. It maintain intensity under 4800 s’ laser irradiation. Thus, design strategy offers 3S (sensitivity, selectivity, stability) toward analytes.
