The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a crucial structure that maintains brain homeostasis by regulating the entry of molecules and cells from bloodstream into central nervous system (CNS). Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's Parkinson's disease, well ischemic stroke, compromise integrity BBB. This leads to increased permeability infiltration harmful substances, thereby accelerating neurodegeneration. In this review, we explore mechanisms underlying BBB disruption, including oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, vascular dysfunction, loss tight junction integrity, in patients with neurodegenerative diseases. We discuss how breakdown contributes neurotoxicity, abnormal accumulation pathological proteins, all which exacerbate neuronal damage facilitate disease progression. Furthermore, potential therapeutic strategies aimed at preserving or restoring function, anti-inflammatory treatments, antioxidant therapies, approaches enhance integrity. Oxidative damage resulting from weaning stress significantly impacts the growth performance and health status of piglets. Taurine, a dietary antioxidant with diverse functions, was investigated in this study for its protective role against stress-induced oxidative underlying mechanism. Forty 28-day-old male castrated weaned piglets were randomly assigned to four groups. The control group received basal diet, while experimental groups fed diet supplemented 0.1, 0.2%, or 0.3% taurine over 28-day period.

Abstract Objective To explore the role of oxidative stress on glycogen synthase kinase-3 in lymphocytes diabetes mellitus (DM) patients complicated with cerebral infarction (CI). Materials and methods A total 186 DM were enrolled according to inclusion criteria exclusion criteria, including 89 alone (DM group) 97 CI + CI) group. Eighty-one selected as group, 80 normal subjects over 50 years control Superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) malondialdehyde (MDA) content serum determined by colorimetric assays. Phosphorylation GSK-3β was measured enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results (1) Compared SOD GSH-Px activities group decreased, accompanied higher MDA content. Furthermore, phosphorylation decreased. (2) In activity decreased days 7 10 month 3 compared day increased from 0 On 1, 7, 10, lower than 3, it 1 Conclusion present study, we demonstrated that peripheral stronger, GSK-3 higher.
