Candida utilis (CUM) possesses various biological effects, including anti-inflammatory, intestinal microbiota regulatory, and immunomodulatory activities. However, there has been little exploration regarding the effects of CUM on ulcerative colitis (UC). Therefore, this study aimed to investigate beneficial alleviating dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced UC in mice explore potential underlying mechanisms. Here, effect was analyzed using a DSS-induced mouse model (n = 9), results which indicated decrease disease activity index (DAI) mice. Furthermore, alleviated colon shortening, minimized tissue damage, preserved tight junction proteins (Claudin-3, Occludin, ZO-1). reduced level pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α), inhibited activation NF-ĸB, MAPK PPARγ signaling pathways, decreased oxidative mediators (MPO, SOD MDA) Additionally, it mitigated dysbiosis by increasing abundance Prevotellaceae Lactobacillus while decreasing Bacteroidaceae Enterobacteriaceae. short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) content The above provide scientific basis for CUM, as natural supplement, restore balance gut inflammatory promote health.

Edible and medicinal mushroom polysaccharides (EMMPs) have been widely studied for their various biological activities. It has shown that EMMPs could modulate microbiota in the large intestine improve intestinal health. However, role of protecting gastric barrier, regulating microbiota, improving health cannot be ignored. Hence, this review will elucidate effect on barriers, with emphasis interaction maintaining overall gastrointestinal Additionally, highlights gastroprotective effects underlying mechanisms against mucosa injury, gastritis, ulcer, cancer. Furthermore, diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, infection, are also summarized. This discuss future perspective challenges use as a dietary supplement or nutraceutical preventing treating diseases.

Probiotics are increasingly being used as an adjunctive therapy for ulcerative colitis. However, some safety issues have been found in the clinical use of probiotics. Postbiotics attracted much attention due to their storage stability, safety, and potential functions, but dose required exert a significant protective effect is unknown. Therefore, this study evaluated mechanisms different doses (200, 400, 600 mg/kg) Lactobacillus rhamnosus 1.0320 postbiotics (1.0320P) alleviating dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced The revealed that 1.0320P could mitigate DSS-induced colitis with signs reductions disease activity index, amelioration colon tissue damage, decreased secretion proinflammatory cytokines, reduced oxidative stress levels, lower bone marrow peroxidase activity. Furthermore, high upregulated expression key proteins Nrf2/ARE pathway (NQO1, Nrf2, HO-1) downregulated TLR4/NF-κB signaling (TLR4, MyD88, NF-κB p65). In addition, upregulate tight junction (TJ) including ZO-1, Occludin, Claudin-1, contributing restoration intestinal mucosal barrier function. Additionally, was effectively correct imbalances microbiota enhance synthesis short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), thereby regulating homeostasis internal environment. Overall, our findings suggest ameliorate colonic inflammation while somewhat dose-dependent. This provides new insights into next-generation biotherapeutic agent treatment even other diseases.
