The one-pot synthesis of N-doped graphene quantum dots (GQDs), capped with a positively charged polyamine (trien), has been realized through microwave-assisted pyrolysis on solid L-glutamic acid and trien in equimolar amounts. resulting nanoparticles are strongly emissive aqueous solutions stable for months. interaction the anionic tetrakis(4-sulphonatophenyl)porphyrin (TPPS4) investigated at neutral mild acidic pH using combination UV/vis absorption spectroscopy together static time-resolved fluorescence emission. At = 7, experimental evidence points to formation supramolecular adduct mainly stabilized by electrostatic interactions. emission porphyrin is substantially quenched while GQDs remain still emissive. On decreasing pH, protonation TPPS4 leads J-aggregates intermediacy dots.
