MXenes are among the most diverse and prominent 2D materials. They being explored in almost every field of science technology, including biomedicine. In particular, they investigated for photothermal therapy, drug delivery, medical imaging, biosensing, tissue engineering, blood dialysis, antibacterial coatings. Despite their proven biocompatibility low cytotoxicity, genotoxicity has not been addressed. To investigate whether interfere with DNA integrity cultured cells, we loaded cells examined fragmentation chromosomal by a comet assay. The presence both Ti3C2Tx Nb4C3Tx generated comets, suggesting strong genotoxic effect murine melanoma human fibroblast cells. However, no corresponding cytotoxicity was observed, confirming that were well tolerated lateral size MXene flakes critical developing comets; submicrometer induced while larger did not. induce comets dead Moreover, extraction from MXene-loaded or mixing purified showed signs fragmentation. Unconstrained living show cleavage under electrophoresis conditions. Thus, assay ability particles to penetrate applied field. probable mechanism formation is rotation movement inside an electric field, leading shredding MXene's razor-sharp edges. Under all other conditions interest, titanium- niobium-carbide-based excellent genotoxicity. These findings may contribute development strategies cancer therapy.

A series of bimetallic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) photocatalysts had been successfully synthesized by doping nickel (Ni) into zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) for enhanced photodegradation methylene blue (MB). Optical characterization revealed that the Ni-ZIF-8 composites possessed a narrower bandgap and lower recombination rate charge carriers than pristine ZIF-8. The Ni(20)-ZIF-8 composite showed highest MB efficiency up to 93.22 % in 150 min, with use 30 mg photocatalyst, 50 mL mg/L solution, neutral pH. scavenger test clearly proved h+ •OH were main active species.
