Amines are ubiquitous in living organisms and play essential roles various physiological functions, including neurotransmission, hormonal regulation, cell signalling, metabolism. In daily life, amines found cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, foods. However, biogenic amines, formed through amino acid decarboxylation during food degradation, present a significant health risk, especially when combined with nitrites nitrates Therefore, stringent control measures essential. Thus, the development of user-friendly sensor devices for on-site monitoring these molecules is crucial area research, because limited portable simple options amine detection quantification currently available. Electrochemical sensors offer an attractive solution reliable sensitive measurements. With it possible to carry out measurements, without complex sample processing. This review provides overview advancements electrochemical detecting quantifying highlighting potential different configurations, sensing elements, underlying mechanisms.

The recognition and differentiation of organic amines are crucial for applications in drug analysis, food spoilage, biomedical assays, clinical diagnostics. Existing luminescence-based methods predominantly rely on fluorescence quenching, limiting the scope sensitive selective detection. Here, we present a fluorochromic approach rapidly distinguishing different based their unique excited-state ground-state interactions with naphthalimide derivative under ultraviolet light. Our findings reveal that photoluminescence quantum yield emission color significantly influenced by substituent group molecular flexibility amine. Specifically, primary amines, together other common lone-pair donors, such as alcohol, ether, thiol, thioether, phosphine, did not exhibit changes, while secondary exhibited only weak emission. For tertiary however, bright green activation was produced molecules containing at least one methyl group; red-shifted yellow observed ones bulkier side groups than methyl; conformationally locked bicycloamines, no observed. In addition, this process depends amine but also shows distinctly ground- dynamics time-resolved spectroscopy. Based these differences, qualitative method is developed visual natural synthetic opioids, including heroin, fentanyl, metonitazene, which more facile rapid compared to current Marquis reagent kit, could facilitate onsite testing, real-time monitoring, streamlined workflows both laboratory field settings.
