Annually, thousands of individuals suffer from skin injuries resulting trauma, surgeries, or diabetes. Inadequate wound treatment can delay healing and increase the risk severe infections. In this context, a promising synthetic polymer with potent antimicrobial properties, Poly{2-[(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride} (PMETAC), is synthesized crosslinked N,N'-Methylenebis(acrylamide) (BIS) in presence Chitosan (CH), natural, biocompatible polysaccharide that promotes cell regeneration provides additional beneficial properties. These semi-interpenetrating (semi-IPN) networks are chosen as matrix for releasing papain, proteolytic enzyme debridement By integrating properties materials, study evaluates PMETAC-based hydrogels different CH concentrations (5%, 10%, 25%) to understand their physicochemical biological performance, including antibacterial activity cytocompatibility. incorporating 25% led 19% pore size 48% maximum volume compared control PMETAC hydrogel. Additionally, all formulations demonstrate ≈100% reduction E. coli S. aureus, showcasing remarkable efficacy. The inclusion also significantly improves fibroblast viability, formulation standing out most candidate multifunctional dressings, highlighting potential hard-to-heal wounds regenerative medicine.

Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a common complication of diabetes. It often accompanied by infection and, in severe cases, necessitates amputation. Early diagnosis and monitoring are crucial for improving prognosis. Novel inflammatory biomarkers, such as the systemic response index (SIRI), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte (PLR) useful predicting prognosis some diseases. This study aimed to clarify association between SIRI, NLR, PLR DFU assess their utility early DFU. Cross-sectional data were extracted on individuals with diabetes who participated National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 1999 2004. was diagnosed based presence ulcers that had not healed within 4 weeks. Weighted multivariable regression, subgroup analysis, smooth curve fitting used evaluate relationships DFU.A total 1204 participants included whom 112 DFUs. Participants DFUs higher PLR, SIRI values than those without For each unit increase prevalence increased 27% . Subgroup analyses showed consistent an elevated DFUs.SIRI low-cost, readily accessible biomarker can be conjunction NLR severity predict Continuous these indicators could assist management
