Abstract Viral diseases like yellow fever, dengue, zika have an alarming impact on public health affecting millions of people around the globe. These can be transmitted by Aedes albopictus – a species originally endemic to South Asia but now widely distributed in several countries outside Asia. Xenorhabdus and Photorhabdus spp., are enteric Gram-negative bacterial symbionts insect-preying nematodes known produce array natural products (NP) with various activities including larvicidal activity. This study demonstrated that supernatants different bacteria effectively deterred Ae. mosquito oviposition concentration dependent manner. cabanillasii displayed deterrent effects at 50-5% concentrations activity index values ranging between -0.87 -0.35, whereas for X. nematophila were -0.82 -0.52 50-10%. The other ( szentirmaii, doucetiae, P. kayaii ) effective ≥20%. Using promoter exchange mutants selected biosynthetic gene clusters Δ hfq background generated easyPACId approach, fabclavine from szentirmaii was identified as bioactive compound evident effects. Such compounds deterrence could useful control programs preventing breeding site specific habitats greatly influence establishment, population densities, dispersion conducive areas.

Cases of mosquito- and tick-borne diseases are rising worldwide. Repellent products can protect individual users from being infected by such diseases. In a previous study, we identified five essential oils that display long-distance mosquito repellency using Y-tube olfactometer assay. the current contact repellent efficacy 20 active ingredients Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Minimum Risk Pesticides list were tested Aedes aegypti Ixodes scapularis. Xenorhabdus Photorhabdus spp. are enteric bacterial symbionts of insect-preying nematodes known to produce array natural products with various activities including larvicidal activity. In this study, the effects produced four one bacteria ovipositional behavior albopictus mosquitoes were assessed. Utilizing a binary choice assay insect cages, gravid female presented two oviposition cups containing water supplemented varying concentrations supernatants (50–1% concentrations) versus control medium. After 72 h, eggs deposited filter papers counted. The attractant index (OAI) feature supernatant was evaluated using number laid cups. Notably, all tested exhibited concentration-dependent deterrence oviposition. cabanillasii displayed strongest deterrent effect, inhibiting egg-laying at 50–5% (OAI: − 0.87 0.35), followed X. nematophila (50–10%, OAI: 0.82 0.52). szentirmaii, doucetiae, P. kayaii showed significant ≥ 20% concentrations. Using promoter exchange mutants generated easyPACId approach, fabclavine from szentirmaii identified bioactive compound evident effects.
