The default network is widely implicated as a common neural substrate for self-generated thought, such remembering one's past (autobiographical memory) and imagining the thoughts feelings of others (theory mind). Findings that comprises subnetworks regions, some commonly distinctly involved across processes, suggest own experiences inform their understanding others. With advent precision functional MRI (fMRI) methods, however, it unclear if this shared observed instead due to traditional group analysis methods. We investigated possibility using novel combination methodological strategies. Twenty-three participants underwent multi-echo resting-state task fMRI. used scans conduct cortical parcellation sensitive individual variation while preserving our ability analysis. Using multivariate analyses, we assessed activation connectivity profiles regions engaged in autobiographical memory, theory mind, or sensorimotor control condition. Across network, stronger activity associated with both memory mind compared Nonetheless, also showed preferential either experimental condition, line work. results similarly indicated distinct profiles. Our support two theoretically important studied domains social cognition, evoke aspects even when ensuring high fidelity individual-specific characteristics.

Conscientiousness, and related constructs impulsivity self-control, have been to structural functional properties of regions in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) anterior insula. Network-based conceptions brain function suggest that these belong a single large-scale network, labeled salience/ventral attention network (SVAN). The current study tested associations between conscientiousness resting-state connectivity this using two community samples (N's = 244 239) data from Human Connectome Project (N 1000). Individualized parcellation was used improve localization accuracy facilitate replication. Functional measured an index efficiency, graph theoretical measure quantifying capacity for parallel information transfer within network. Efficiency set parcels SVAN significantly associated with all samples. Findings are consistent theory as variation neural networks underlying effective prioritization goals.

Aging comes with declines in episodic memory. Memory decline is accompanied by structural and functional alterations within key brain regions, including the hippocampus lateral prefrontal cortex, as well their affiliated default frontoparietal control networks. Most studies have examined how or differences relate to memory independently. Here we implemented a multimodal, multivariate approach investigate interactions between individual integrity connectivity performance healthy aging. In sample of younger ( N = 111; mean age, 22.11 years) older 78; 67.29 adults, analyzed MRI multiecho resting-state fMRI data. Participants completed measures list recall (free words from list), associative (cued paired words), source trial type, sensory modality which word was presented). The findings revealed that greater posterior middle frontal gyrus were linked pattern increased within-network connectivity, together related better adulthood. Critically, adults displayed context decreased hippocampal volumes when reorganization. This reorganization characterized pruning connections limbic Our work provides insight into neural mechanisms underlie age-related compensation, revealing architecture associated aging tied cortex.

Structural magnetic resonance imaging (sMRI) studies have shown abnormalities in the brain structure of ASD patients, but relationship between structural changes and social communication problems is still unclear. This study aims to explore mechanisms clinical dysfunction children through voxel-based morphometry (VBM). After screening T1 images from Autism Brain Imaging Data Exchange (ABIDE) database, 98 aged 8-12 years old with were matched 105 typical development (TD). Firstly, this compared differences gray matter volume (GMV) two groups. Then, evaluated GMV subtotal score communications interaction on Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) children. Research has found that abnormal structures include midbrain, pontine, bilateral hippocampus, left parahippocampal gyrus, superior temporal pole, middle gyrus occipital gyrus. In addition, children, ADOS only significantly positively correlated summary, abnormal, different related specific regions.

Self-awareness (SA) research is crucial for understanding cognition, social behavior, mental health, and education, but SA's underlying network architecture, particularly connectivity patterns, remains largely uncharted. We integrated meta-analytic findings with connectivity-behavior correlation analyses to systematically identify SA-related regions connections in healthy adults. Edge-weighted networks capturing public, private, composite SA dimensions were established, where weights represented strengths between tractography-derived structural connectivities levels quantified through behavioral assessments. Then, multilevel extracted across a spectrum of thresholds. Robust full-threshold revealed their hierarchical continuum encompassing distinct lateralization topological transitions, characteristic hourglass-like architectures. Pathological analysis demonstrated disruptions schizophrenia (SZ) major depressive disorder (MDD): approximately 40% altered SZ 20% MDD, 90% MDD alterations overlapping SZ. While disease-specific shared also observed network-level properties, the core framework remained preserved both disorders. Collectively, these significantly advanced our neurobiological substrates pathological deviations.

Abstract The present study aimed to clarify the brain function of classical trigeminal neuralgia (CTN) by analyzing 77 CTN patients and age- gender-matched 73 healthy controls (HCs) based on three frequency bands static dynamic amplitude low-frequency fluctuation, regional homogeneity, degree centrality (sALFF, sReHo, sDC, dALFF, dReHo, dDC). Compared HCs, number altered regions was different in bands, band most followed slow-4 patients. Cerrelellum_8_L (sReHo), Cerrelellum_8_R (sDC), Calcarine_R Caudate_R (sDC) were found only band, while Precuneus_L (sALFF) Frontal_Inf_Tri_L (sReHo) band. Except for above six regions, others overlapped bands. seriously affects mental health patients, some are correlated with clinical parameters. indicators complementary changing showed specificity. slow-5 is more consistent which could be valuable exploring pathophysiology CTN.
