Earth’s rotation around its axis has pressured inhabitants to adapt 24 h cycles of day and night. Humans adapted their own circadian rhythms the with a light-aligned awake–sleep cycle. As consequence, metabolism undergoes drastic changes throughout cycle needs plasticity cope opposing conditions in (when there is an increase energy demands food availability), during night prolonged fasting couples cyclic across sleep stages). In last century, human behavior changed dramatically disregard for natural cycles. This misalignment eating schedules strongly modulates homeostasis, favoring development obesity, metabolic syndrome, dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). review summarizes effects disruption, particular focus on feeding MASLD hepatocellular carcinoma.

Abstract Metabolic regulation is essential for maintaining homeostasis in response to fluctuating dietary nutrient availability. In this review, we explore how metabolic health can be affected by the temporal alignment between daily behavioural patterns (e.g., eating, physical activity and sleep) recurring cycles underlying physiology ‘circadian’ rhythms). Misalignment within and/or these lead dysregulation, increasing risk of chronic disease states such as obesity, type 2 diabetes cardiovascular disease. Conversely, improved strategically aligning certain with endogenous rhythms physiology. Dietary interventions based upon reasoning are referred chrono‐nutrition strategies. Skeletal muscle an important tissue relation both whole‐body metabolism behaviour plays a central role physiological respond timing delivery/availability. Few studies have examined human skeletal muscle, providing opportunities advance current understanding affects metabolism.

Summary While there is considerable enthusiasm for the translational and clinical applications of chronobiology, their actual implementation not progressing as rapidly might be expected. Here we discuss possibility that this may relate to a combination conceptual, methodological, evidentiary training challenges. These are compounded by remaining, profound cultural differences between basic applied chronobiologists. We argue all these issues can overcome cross‐faculty teaching, time, patience goodwill, together with set more formal actions, such establishment collaborative framework evidence generation, engagement relevant stakeholders public health campaigns based on already available evidence. hope in particular transformative power circadian medicine, will change outcomes, increase safety improve quality life patients worldwide. Now time bring “internal time” into medicine.

Background — A growing body of research demonstrates that a substantial daily range light exposure, characterized by ample daylight followed darkness during sleep, is essential for human well-being. This encompasses crucial aspects like sleep quality, mood regulation, and cardiovascular metabolic health. Objective study characterizes Circadian Light Hygiene (CLH) as an factor in maintaining health, well-being, longevity modern society. CLH involves adjusting the 24-hour exposure dynamic to support natural sleep-wake cycle circadian rhythms. Three major challenges negatively impacting health are: 1) pollution (light at night, or LAN), excessive evening nighttime artificial light; 2) insufficient daylight; 3) irregular patterns. These interacting necessitate systematic approach measurement analysis. Material Methods review peer-reviewed literature published through October 30, 2024, examined methodologies effects seasonal exposure. Conclusion elucidates fundamental principles hygiene, synthesizing existing our assess benefits adequate daylight, risks adverse outcomes stemming from diminished range, mistimed Novel indices quantifying optimizing hygiene are introduced.

Abstract Mechanisms regulating human sleep and physiology have evolved in response to rhythmic variation environmental variables driven by the Earth’s rotation around its axis sun. To what extent these mechanisms are operable vulnerable people who primarily exposed indoor environment remains unknown. We analysed 26,523 days of data from sensors a contactless behaviour-and-physiology sensor tracking bed occupancy, heart breathing rate 70 living with dementia (PLWD). Indoor light temperature, timing, duration fragmentation as well timing minimum all varied across seasons. Beyond effects season, higher bedroom temperature less bright daytime associated more disrupted respiratory rate. This sensitivity ecologically relevant variations implies that implementing approaches control can improve sleep.
