Three expired drugs, Solo Sept (SS), Slim-lax (SL), and Well Derm (WD), have been tested as corrosion inhibitors for of copper alloy (C10100) in 2.0 M HNO3 solution. experimental methods such weight loss measurements, potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were applied this study. These drugs function effective inhibitors, according to the findings. The efficacy inhibition rises with increasing drug concentration falls temperature rises. From PDP, examined that worked mixed-type inhibitors. EIS measurements showed a remarkable increase charge transfer resistance decreases capacity double layer corroding solution concentration. power these was interpreted term its adsorption on C10100 surface Langmuir isotherm. inverse effect efficiency well small negative values ∆G°ads (-20.84, -20.52 -20.51 kJ/mol) SS, SL WD respectively, supports physical surface. Salbutamol, which has nontoxic properties, was effectively extracted from expired Farcolin and evaluated as an inhibitor against carbon steel (CSt) dissolution in 1.0 M HCl solution. Some technologies were applied to determine the inhibition efficacy of Salbutamol such weight loss (WL), potentiodynamic polarization (PP), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Also, FTIR, 1HNMR, mass used clarify structure Salbutamol. The findings indicate that CSt can profit significantly recycling medicine may be employed a corrosion inhibitor. efficiency improved with increase dosage salbutamol, resistance lowering current density, WL, temperature. It's reached 89.65% at dose 200 ppm using EIS technology. impact interpreted due its spontaneous adsorption on CSt/electrolyte interface, accordance Langmuir isotherm. classified mixed In addition, how temperature affects rate is considered by calculating discussing some thermodynamic parameters.

The corrosion inhibition process during acid pickling in petroleum industries often employs toxic chemicals, facing stringent environmental regulations. This study explores a sustainable alternative by investigating the inhibitory effects of eco-friendly food waste extracts, namely Prunus domestica seeds (P.S) and Okra stems (O.St), on B7 grade steel 1.0 M HCl aqueous solution, simulating an environment. efficiency was estimated via both electrochemical methods, including impedance spectroscopy potentiodynamic polarization techniques, chemical such as weight loss measurements. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) elucidated extracts' main functional groups potential constituents. Remarkably, extracts exhibited maximum up to 80 %. Adsorption isotherms were employed analyze mechanisms, Langmuir Flory–Huggins models, alongside Kinetic-thermodynamic model. Activation parameters have been obtained using Arrhenius transition state equations. synthesis activated complex is characterized endothermic process, evidenced positive values enthalpy activation (ΔH*). Conversely, negative entropy (ΔS*) indicate that signifies association rather than separation. Quantum calculations identified active inhibitor compounds within extracts. quantum parameters, ionization potential, electronegativity, softness, hardness constituents calculated DFT with B3LYP/6–31 G(+) method. underscores innovative approach utilizing inhibitors, addressing concerns while offering practical implications for industrial applications.

Abstract This study presents a comprehensive investigation of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) as corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel (C38) in 1.0 M HCl environment, using both theoretical and experimental approaches. To the best our knowledge, this is first time NMP has been studied its anticorrosive properties. Electrochemical tests, conducted with an SP150 potentiostat three-electrode system, revealed that effectively inhibits through cathodic protection. The adsorption onto surface follows Langmuir isotherm model, confirmed by stationary transient studies. results showed significant increase polarization resistance, maximum inhibition efficiency 76.82% at concentration 10⁻² M. Theoretical analysis Density Functional Theory (DFT) indicated substantial energy gap (Egap = 6.293 eV) between highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) lowest unoccupied (LUMO), validating findings. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations further demonstrated stable on surface, -606.103 kcal/mol. Additionally, Natural Bond Orbitals (NBO) provided insights into interactions bonding characteristics. Overall, these confirm effective steel, offering valuable mechanism potential industrial applications.
