Against
the
backdrop
of
global
energy
crisis
and
climate
change,
corporate
environmental
compliance
has
emerged
as
a
key
aspect
regulation
focal
point
academic
interest.
It
plays
crucial
role
in
alleviating
regulatory
pressure,
enabling
green
innovations,
enhancing
performance,
fostering
sustainable
development.
Despite
extensive
research
field,
comprehensive
reviews
bibliometric
analyses
remain
scarce.
To
address
this
gap,
study
meticulously
analyzed
851
papers
indexed
WoS’s
SSCI
SCI
from
2004
to
2024.
Using
visualization
tools
like
VOSviewer
CiteSpace,
it
conducted
multidimensional
analysis
systematic
review,
identifying
core
authors
such
Aseem,
Ntim,
Zeng,
high-productivity
countries
including
China,
USA,
UK,
journals
Journal
Cleaner
Production
Sustainability.
Keyword
co-occurrence
cluster
revealed
central
themes
information
disclosure,
innovation,
management
systems.
Burst
highlighted
emerging
hot
topics,
notably
ecological
interplay
between
Total
Factor
Productivity
regulations.
Additionally,
we
identified
several
critical
gaps
field.
For
instance,
on
governance
mechanisms
context
digital
transformation
remains
insufficient.
Furthermore,
effectiveness
multi-stakeholder
collaborative
frameworks
requires
ongoing
investigation.
Therefore,
encourage
future
researchers
focus
following
topics:
digitization
compliance,
participation
mechanisms,
cost–benefit
impact
political
environments
compliance.

Abstract
By
developing
a
theoretical
framework
combining
the
shareholder,
stakeholder,
and
cognitive
approaches
to
governance,
our
article
examines
influence
of
sustainable
governance
levers
on
environmental
innovation.
This
study
focuses
French
companies
listed
SBF
120
index
from
2002
2021
in
an
institutional
context
deemed
conducive
corporate
social
responsibility
(CSR),
particularly
field.
Thanks
methodology
adapted
longitudinal
nature
Refinitiv
Eikon
database,
we
found
that
CSR
mechanisms
(i.e.
committee
incentive
mechanism)
foster
innovation,
whereas
shareholder
mechanism
examined
financial
has
adverse
effect.
Our
findings
will
help
regulators
encourage
recommend
systems.
They
provide
results
could
guide
setting
standards
where
codes
are
currently
integrating
concerns,
France.
