Wildlife sanctuaries have gained popularity in recent years as settings for research into human–animal relations, captive wildlife tourism, and rehabilitation. While scholars from animal studies, ethics, geography, ethnography disciplines turned their attention to sanctuaries, there is still limited engagement the fields of conservation, welfare sciences. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, this paper addresses ‘sanctuary gap’ by offering a synthesis existing related sanctuary tourism. Tourists’ ethically responsible participation in animal-based tourism: A configurational impact assessment

This study investigated formation by integrating constituents value-belief-norm (VBN) theory, norm-activation model (NAM), theory planned behavior (TPB), including biospheric value, altruistic ethical beliefs, awareness issues, ascribed responsibility, personal norm, attitude, social behavioral intentions with regard to tourism.
