The uptake of nanoparticles (NPs) by aquatic invertebrates can lead to adverse health effects. aims the present study were: 1) investigate bioconcentration potential ZnO NPs or its bulk analogous in Biomphalaria glabrata gastropods measuring soft tissue Zn content, and 2) determine responses elicited exposed snails through analysis recognized biomarkers effect at subcellular level. Snails 5 mg/L for 48 h showed a significant higher content than control animals, with no differences between NPs- bulk-treated snails. No were observed levels lipid peroxidation activities acetylcholinesterase, carboxylesterase catalase h-exposure respect organisms. However, exposure induced decrease glutathione without nano-specific effect. results as whole encourage further studies better understand impact that engineered may have on freshwater invertebrate species.
