Abstract This narrative review synthesizes and introduces 386 previous works about virtual reality-induced symptoms effects by focusing on cybersickness, visual fatigue, muscle acute stress, mental overload. Usually, these VRISE are treated independently in the literature, although reality is increasingly considered an option to replace PCs at workplace, which encourages us consider them all once. We emphasize context of office-like tasks VR, gathering 57 articles meeting our inclusion/exclusion criteria. Cybersickness symptoms, influenced fifty factors, could prevent workers from using VR. Eye strain when performing tasks reliant on a digital environment can cause discomfort, affecting productivity and quality of life. Digital eye (the preferred terminology) was defined as "the development or exacerbation recurrent ocular symptoms and/or signs related specifically to device screen viewing". prevalence up 97% has been reported, due no previously agreed definition/diagnostic criteria limitations current questionnaires which fail differentiate such from those arising non-digital tasks. Objective blink rate critical flicker frequency changes are not 'diagnostic' nor validated sensitive. The mechanisms attributed surface disease mainly reduced completeness, partial/uncorrected refractive error underlying binocular vision anomalies, together with the cognitive demand task differences in position, size, brightness glare compared an equivalent task. In general, interventions well established; patients experiencing should be provided full correction for appropriate working distances. Improving blinking, optimizing work encouraging regular breaks may help. Based current, best evidence, blue-light blocking do appear effective management strategy. More larger clinical trials needed assess artificial tear effectiveness relieving strain, particularly comparing different constituents; systematic review within report identified use secretagogues warm compress/humidity goggles/ambient humidifiers promising strategies, along nutritional supplementation (such omega-3 fatty acid berry extracts).

The accelerated growth in electronic health records (EHR), Internet-of-Things, mHealth, telemedicine, and artificial intelligence (AI) the recent years have significantly fuelled interest development big data research. Big refer to complex datasets that are characterized by attributes of “5 Vs”—variety, volume, velocity, veracity, value. analytics research has so far benefitted many fields medicine, including ophthalmology. availability these not only allow for comprehensive timely examinations epidemiology, trends, characteristics, outcomes, prognostic factors diseases, but also enable highly accurate AI algorithms diagnosing a wide range medical diseases as well discovering new patterns or associations previously unknown clinicians researchers. Within field ophthalmology, there is rapidly expanding pool large clinical registries, epidemiological studies, omics biobanks through which can be accessed. National corneal transplant genome-wide association national cataract databases, ophthalmology-related EHR-based registries (e.g., AAO IRIS Registry) some key resources. In this review, we aim provide succinct overview applicability particularly from perspective cataract, synergistic potential data, technologies, internet things, wearable smart devices, barriers realizing field.

Abstract Background Dry eye disease (DED) is a multifactorial of the tear film and ocular surface. It causes symptoms, reduced quality life considerable economic burden on society. Prolonged use visual display terminals (VDTs) has been suggested as an important risk factor for DED. Purpose This review aims to study association between DED VDT with emphasis prevalence among users harmful daily duration use. Methods A PubMed search was conducted yielded 57 relevant articles based set inclusion exclusion criteria. The studies were subclassified according design. Results far majority showed or DED‐related signs symptoms. definite probable in office workers ranged from 26% 70%, few 1–2 hr exposure per day being associated Conclusion strongly VDT‐associated prevalent, but exact needs be further elucidated using standardized diagnosis Furthermore, safe lower limit yet established. More research needed effect digitalization digital transformation, which are particularly high during time COVID‐19 pandemic.

Computer vision syndrome (CVS) describes a group of eye and vision-related problems that result from prolonged digital device use. This study aims to assess the prevalence associated factors CVS among students during lockdown resulting COVID-19 pandemic.A cross-sectional, online, questionnaire-based performed high school in Thailand.A total 2476 students, with mean age 15.52±1.66 years, were included this study. The number hours use per day (10.53±2.99) increased pandemic compared before its advent (6.13±2.8). online learning was 7.03±2.06 pandemic. found 70.1% severity correlated both usage (p<0.001). Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed ≤15 years (adjusted OR (AOR)=2.17), overall >6 (AOR=1.91), >5 (AOR=4.99), multiple (AOR=2.15), refractive errors (AOR=2.89), presence back pain (AOR=2.06) neck (AOR=2.36).The lockdown. Over 70% children had CVS, whose factors, including usage, learning, ergonomics errors, should be adjusted decrease risk acquiring condition. Online will remain, along after pandemic, we hope our research taken into account remodelling education system accordingly.

Evaporative dry eye (EDE) due to meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is one of the common clinical problems encountered in ophthalmology. It a major cause disease (DED) and ocular morbidity. In EDE, inadequate quantity or quality lipids produced by glands leads faster evaporation preocular tear film symptoms signs DED. Although diagnosis made using combination features special diagnostic test results, management might be challenging as it often difficult distinguish EDE from other subtypes This critical because approach treatment DED guided identifying underlying subtype cause. The traditional MGD consists warm compresses, lid massage, improving hygiene, all measures aimed at relieving glandular obstruction facilitating meibum outflow. recent years, newer imaging modalities therapies for like vectored thermal pulsation intense pulsed light therapy have emerged. However, multitude options may confuse treating ophthalmologist, customized rather than generalized necessary these patients. review aims provide simplified diagnose individualize each patient. also emphasizes role lifestyle modifications appropriate counseling so that patients can realistic expectations enjoy better life.
