Background:
The
first
class
of
integrated
plastic
surgery
residency
applicants
with
pass/fail
(P/F)
step
1
assessments
occurred
during
the
2023–2024
Match
cycle.
This
study
analyzes
results

2024
postmatch
survey
to
program
directors
(PDs)
regarding
impact
conversion
P/F
scoring
and
compares

how
this

influence
decision-making
when
it

Plastic
surgery
residency
training
in
France
presents
unique
challenges

opportunities,

a
highly
competitive
environment
growing
demand
for
academic
plastic
surgeons.
Understanding
the
factors
influencing
residents’
career
decisions
is
essential
optimizing
programs
fostering
interest.
Methods:
A
cross-sectional
study
was
conducted
using
self-administered
questionnaire
comprising
14
questions
distributed
via
RedCAP
between
January
June
2023.
The
included
all
residents
young
attendings
21
French
University
Hospital
Centers
nationwide,
from
year
1
to
postgraduate
2.
Results:
Among
204
contacted
participants,
106
responses
were
obtained.
All
complete.
First-year
represented
9.4%
of
respondents,
whereas
“deepening”
“consolidation
phases”
41.5%
25.6%,
respectively.
Senior

“junior
doctors”

Although
most
expressed
interest

practice,
mentorship

(AI)

ChatGPT

personal
statement
writing,

perspective

directors
