Background: The first class of integrated plastic surgery residency applicants with pass/fail (P/F) step 1 assessments occurred during the 2023–2024 Match cycle. This study analyzes results a 2024 postmatch survey to program directors (PDs) regarding impact conversion P/F scoring and compares 2019 that attempted predict how this would influence decision-making when it was initially announced. Methods: A 26-item evaluating PDs’ perspectives on applicant characteristics application process following distributed March 2024. Background: Plastic surgery residency training in France presents unique challenges and opportunities, with a highly competitive environment growing demand for academic plastic surgeons. Understanding the factors influencing residents’ career decisions is essential optimizing programs fostering interest. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using self-administered questionnaire comprising 14 questions distributed via RedCAP between January June 2023. Background: Personal statements are a required component of plastic surgery residency applications but can be extremely time- and labor-intensive. Artificial intelligence (AI) programs like ChatGPT streamline personal statement writing, their use, especially if undisclosed, have ethical implications. This study elucidates the perspective program directors (PDs) regarding importance in reviewing applicants whether should utilized.
