Abstract This study investigates the barriers that hinder non-leading Brazilian higher education institutions (HEIs) in repositioning within digital landscape based on dynamic capabilities. Microlearning, an emerging educational approach, has gained increasing attention across various fields in recent years, leading to extensive scientific literature. However, it remains underexplored terms of a comprehensive quantitative analysis, posing challenges for researchers tracking the overall development specific themes. Therefore, this study presents bibliometric analysis evolving landscape microlearning publications from 2007 2023 extracted Scopus database while employing VOSviewer, Biblioshiny, and ATLAS.ti. Leveraging qualitative approaches, encompasses 256 documents 206 sources, identifying key trends themes prevalent selected publications. The findings revealed 19.37% annual growth, highlighting rising prominence research. In addition, uncovered influential articles, prolific authors, most productive institutions, countries, primary distinct subject areas. trending themes, indicated that studies focused on four areas within – (1) design tools, (2) efficacy impact, (3) implementation utilization, (4) advantages disadvantages.
