Impact of social media addiction on college students’ academic performance: an interdisciplinary perspective DOI

This study aimed to investigate the underlying mechanisms through which social media (SNS) addiction influences college students' academic performance. We developed an integrated model of relationship between SNS and performance based on dual-systems theory. A total 251 students participated in this study. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used analyze empirical data. The results indicated that self-control mediated impact grade point average (GPA). Moreover, had a positive their anxiety stress, turn negatively moderated GPA. Educators can use these findings improve with addiction.
