An Earth system spatial grid (ESSG) is an extension of a discrete global (DGGS) in the radial direction. It important tool for organizing, representing, simulating, analyzing, sharing, and visualizing data. The existing ESSGs suffer from complex relationships significant geometric distortion. To mitigate these problems, spherical geodesic degenerate octree (SGDOG) its encoding decoding schemes are proposed this paper. SGDOG extends great circle arc QTM direction adopts different levels at depths. subdivision simple clear, has multi-level characteristics. experimental results demonstrate that advantages relationships, convergent volume distortion, real-time decoding. potential to organize manage data perform large-scale visual analysis system.
