Microplastics are a global concern in aquatic ecology and readily colonized by bacteria the environment. There is lack of information on bacterial colonization eroded un-eroded microplastics freshwater. In this study, six types were incubated for 8 weeks microcosms with water from Lake Erie. Microcosms inoculated one three species: Acinetobacter (A.) calcoaceticus, Burkholderia (B.) cepacia, Escherichia (E.) coli. These species ubiquitous bodies associated human populations. Bacterial surface coverage was determined using electron fluorescent microscopy. Quantifications EPS roughness performed confocal microscopy measuring contact angles (θw ) droplets microplastics, respectively. Analyses revealed differed among plastic after weeks. As study progressed, E. coli remained most abundant while A. calcoaceticus gradually decreased surfaces. polypropylene disks had lower abundance. Conversely, highest abundance, indicating importance (lower θw values) physicochemical properties colonization. Our results demonstrated that affected both physiological colonizing bacteria.
