The amount of money individuals were willing to accept (WTA) discontinue using prominent Chinese social media platforms (WeChat/QQ), the willingness pay (WTP) for these platforms, as well WTA/WTP disparities investigated in between-groups and within-subjects design studies examine their existence, size, psychological correlates form personality use habits. Individuals recruited at universities three separate surveys. For investigations, four samples extracted: WTA WTP investigations context WeChat QQ. completed items on WeChat/QQ, Big Five Inventory, time spent short Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale. Two providing data QQ, respectively, extracted. Across study designs both QQ we found evidence high lower scores, thus, large disparities. Individual differences negatively associated with Openness across platforms. results reveal a generally low acceptance use, which is important against background discussions monetary payment models. Moreover, complex interplay between individual characteristics, characteristics service, how why service used seem underly disparity. Finally, methodological implications present forthcoming assessing valuation (WTA, WTP) are discussed.

This paper assesses the WTP and WTA for improvements deteriorations, respectively, in irrigation water supply reliability. The assessment relies on a double-sided discrete choice experiment valuation using latent-class modeling accounting preference scale heterogeneity. approach is empirically implemented case study of Spanish irrigated district significantly impacted by climate change. results obtained show individual-specific heterogeneity WTA-WTP disparity, primarily driven different impacts reliability farmers' utility (changes business revenues costs, uncertainty performance, farm income effects) interindividual differences loss aversion (different degrees endowment effect). Additionally, significant ordering effects found suggest that it may be advisable to use approaches account them. Several policy-relevant implications can drawn, including non-neutrality initial allocation property rights, repercussions cost-benefit change adaptation measures, need irrigators' order design successful market-based instruments.

This paper documents a downward hypothetical bias in the willingness to accept measure for private good using Becker‐DeGroot‐Marschak (BDM) method. We first construct theoretical framework that predicts an upward pay and measure. Based on field experiment livestock trading China, we compare four treatments, including treatment wherein responses are not consequential, two consequential treatments with probabilistic implementation have 25% or 75% probability of being full 100% consequential. Consistent our predictions, empirical results show respondents report significant lower (about 12% lower) values compared The reported also increase as increases. Our study contributes research by allowing exogenous changes probability.

Abstract The design of rural development policies and government programmes in support farm operations households relies on precise estimates off‐farm labour supply elasticities. However, the wide variation dilutes their power to predict magnitude these targeted interventions. We perform a meta‐analysis elasticity identify systematic factors that influence estimates. A sample 137 elasticities is obtained from 43 studies which use data ranging 1960 2012. examine theoretical assumptions, availability empirical specifications, other study‐specific characteristics. Controlling for potential publication bias, we estimate approximately 0.64 0.77. Whether beach nourishment, an established management measure, is justified depends on its benefits and costs. We apply a discrete choice experiment at Waikīkī Beach Oʻahu with mixed logit latent class models to evaluate recreationists’ willingness pay for changes in width water clarity as well the preferences as-is. Our preferred specification indicates heterogeneity among subjects, who have distinct recreation site. Based attendance data, aggregate justifies re-nourishment runoff control measures.

Abstract Stated preference methods in food economics typically focus on willingness to pay for high quality of a fixed product quantity, ignoring the role quantity welfare estimates. This study demonstrates that matters beef valuation studies both theoretically and empirically. We find when can be chosen freely by individuals, price premium improved per decreases with quantity. A meta‐regression analysis conducted shows extent impact When increases 100 g, percentage declines 2−4 points, which differs across model specifications samples. The implications estimates design stated are discussed line results. [EconLit Citations: D10, D60, Q18].

Abstract This analysis provides two case studies comparing direct payment versus charitable donations on respondents' behalf as survey participation incentives. The first examines agricultural producers' willingness to participate in several hypothetical surveys. Donation charity significantly increases relative payment. second study forest landowners' an actual, one‐time survey. Neither nor donation incentives improve among mail respondents and are less effective online respondents. If they do not decrease participation, then may be preferred, requiring effort process a smaller number of transactions.

We investigate the value contract enhancements commercial participating in California almond services, a event that demands roughly 89% US honey colonies makes up over half beekeeper annual revenues. find clauses ensure additional pesticide protection, advance payment, certain cover crops. illustrate market-based mechanisms for incentivizing agricultural practices can improve pollinator health, while also alleviating growers’ concerns about deficits.
