In fish, bacteriosis has been widely linked with Aeromonas species, but co-infection by these bacteria little addressed. The aims of this study were to report on an outbreak disease in pirarucu Arapaima gigas caused and investigate experimental characterize resistance profile, virulence factors phenotypic molecular differentiation. Fish samples clinical signs collected used co-infection. bacterial isolates characterized phenotypically as hydrophila jandaei. Virulence genes aerA, gcat, lip, dnase hlyA detected using the polymerase chain reaction, while alt, act ser not found. Resistance imipenem ceftriaxone was observed; however, all susceptible most antibiotics assayed. Phenotypic tests determine presence metallo-β-lactamases showed positivity only for A. jandaei strains. Assays kpc, ndm, imp, oxa-48 vim negative results. pathogenicity association gigas, established accordance Koch's postulate, provided support existence synergism between bacteria. This several implications relating occurrences determinants virulence.

Abstract: Knowledge of the ichthyofauna a hydrographic basin is minimum necessary condition for implementation any measures exploration, management or preservation water and fishing resources. Despite its relevance, number fish species across Iguassu River still uncertain. Thus, objective this study was to compile that occur in extensive stretch above Falls. In addition, we recorded level threat extinction native species, origin nonnative their main vectors introduction. To achieve goal, survey carried out through consultations with ichthyological collections as well online databases. Also, literature review conducted using search platforms Thomson Reuters, SciELO Elsevier’s ScienceDirect locate all articles published by March 2020 addressed topic “ichthyofauna basin”. The compiled total 133 distributed nine orders, 29 families 72 genera. Seventy-nine were throughout entire length basin, 119 units middle lower (40 exclusive) 93 unit upper (14 exclusive). endemism rate shown here (approximately 69%) contrasts 40 30% basin). Successive impoundments, reductions habitat quality increase are threats especially endemic species; approximately 20% these listed some category extinction. We emphasize constant monitoring discover putatively undescribed application strategies mitigate negative effects promote control spread species.
