Variations in stratospheric ozone and changes the aquatic environment by climate change human activity are modifying exposure of ecosystems to UV radiation. These shifts have consequences for distributions species, biogeochemical cycles, services provided ecosystems. This Quadrennial Assessment presents latest knowledge on multi-faceted interactions between effects irradiation change, other anthropogenic activities, how these conditions changing Climate results variations depth mixing, thickness ice cover, duration ice-free inputs dissolved organic matter, all which can either increase or decrease Anthropogenic activities release oil, filters sunscreens, microplastics into that then modified radiation, frequently amplifying adverse organisms their environments. The impacts combination with factors such as warming ocean acidification considered micro-organisms, macroalgae, plants, animals (floating, swimming, attached). Minimising disruptive critical world's rivers, lakes oceans (freshwater supply, recreation, transport, food security) will not only require continued adherence Montreal Protocol but also a wider inclusion solar radiation its studies and/or models under future global climate.

Abstract Lignin exhibits a long‐active UV‐blocking property due to its macromolecular aromatic structure and unique semiquione‐quione‐hydroquione transition. However, poor absorbance in UVA region (320–400 nm) irregular aggregation are still the obstacles. Herein, active spirapyrane (SP‐Br) is synthesized covalently introduced into alkali lignin (AL) construct photo‐stimulated UV‐absorbing enhancement sunscreen actives (AL‐SP n ). The introduction of SP significantly improved AL effectively eased. When optimal AL‐SP 3 solution exposed UV irradiation, color turned purple, further as unconjugated transformed conjugated merocyanine (MC) structure. light removed, recovered yellow. antioxidant endow reversible SP‐MC transformation with good cyclic stability. As‐prepared based exhibit obvious effect. sun protection factor (SPF) from 23 89 after 4 h can maintain high performance for another 8 h. In addition, it low permeation biocompatibily vitro vivo, demonstrating potential practical use.

Global warming has caused the degradation of coral reefs around world. While stress-tolerant corals have demonstrated ability to acclimatize ocean warming, it remains unclear whether they can sustain their thermal resilience when superimposed with other coastal environmental stressors. We report combined impacts a photosystem II (PSII) herbicide, prometryn, and on Galaxea fascicularis through physiological omics analyses. The results demonstrate that heat-stress-induced inhibition photosynthetic efficiency in G. is exacerbated presence prometryn. Transcriptomics metabolomics analyses indicate prometryn exposure may overwhelm repair mechanism corals, thereby compromising capacity for acclimation. Moreover, might amplify adverse effects heat stress key energy nutrient metabolism pathways induce stronger response oxidative corals. findings at environmentally relevant concentrations would render more susceptible exacerbate breakdown Symbiodiniaceae symbiosis. present study provides valuable insights into necessity prioritizing PSII herbicide pollution reduction reef protection efforts while mitigating climate change.

Lignin exhibits good potential in natural sunscreens, but its dark color is still an obstacle. Herein, a strategy combining ultrafiltration and ultrasonic cavitation developed to whiten enzymatic hydrolysis lignin (EHL). Results show that fractions with the smallest molecular weight possess lightest due lower bulk density fewer surface chromophores. The hydrophobic aromatic skeleton abundant phenol carboxyl groups endow fraction dispersibility reactivity. Oil chemical sunscreen actives are effectively emulsified encapsulated via cavitation. As-prepared capsules have average diameter of 269 nm whiteness index −15, representing 71% 63% improvement compared EHL EHL-based capsules. capsule-based approaches white even under dosage 10 wt %. sun protection factor reaches 96 maintains performance at both room high temperatures.
