Abstract Purpose. To examine the association between potato consumption and death of all-causes cardiovascular disease (CVD) over a substantial follow-up period within cohort predominantly consuming boiled potatoes. Methods. Adults from three Norwegian counties were invited to health screenings in 1974–1988 (> 80% attendance). Dietary data collected using semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaires at each screening categorize weekly (≤ 6, 7–13, or ≥ 14 potatoes/week) calculate daily cumulative mean intakes (grams/day). Hazard ratios (HRs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) estimated multivariable Cox regression estimate hazard for risk all-causes, CVD, ischaemic heart (IHD), acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Results. Among 78,400 subjects with baseline age 41 years, we observed 27,737 deaths, including 9,028 deaths due median 33.5 years. Subjects who consumed potatoes/week had lower all-cause compared ≤ 6 (HR = 0.88; CI 0.84, 0.92). Potato was associated small, inverse IHD, AMI. In continuous analyses, 100 g/day increment 4% 0.96; 0.94, 0.98) CVD (0.96; 0.93, 0.99), along 5% (0.95; 0.91, 1.00) 1.01) IHD AMI death, respectively. Conclusion. this generally high potatoes, found modest, associations IHD.

The carbohydrate-insulin model predicts that meals with varying glycemic indices will elicit distinct metabolic and hunger responses, including greater intake at subsequent following high-glycemic-index meals. To test this, a randomized trial (NCT05804942) was conducted in healthy adults using intervention low, medium, high constant macronutrient composition. After of the meals, glucose insulin followed predicted pattern, but subjective did not. At group level, low index led to lower energy changes. individual changes were unrelated body fatness or levels glucose, β-hydroxybutyrate, free fatty acids, L-lactate, leptin, adrenaline, glucagon-like peptide-1, glucagon, insulin-glucagon ratio. A weak negative association observed between ratio 300 min, opposite model's prediction. These data provide little support for model.

Women experience unique dynamics in health and Quality of Life (QoL) due to biological, psychological, social factors. These necessitate a comprehensive examination the indirect effects Diet (DQ) on Mental Physical well-being through Body Mass Index (BMI). This study aims elucidate pathways which DQ influences mental physical well-being, with particular focus mediating role BMI. cross-sectional was conducted women (n = 985) aged 19-64 years. Anthropometric measurements 24-Hour Dietary Recall (24HDR) data were collected. QoL assessed using Short Form-36 (SF-36), comprises two primary subdimensions: (1) Well-being, represented by Component Summary (MCS), (2) (PCS). The Nutrient-Based (NBDQ) Carbohydrate-to-Fibre Ratio (CHO-FBR) calculated from 24HDR evaluate DQ. Two mediation models employed. Model 1 examined NBDQ BMI, age as confounder. 2 CHO-FBR also considering mean participants 31.68 ± 11.95 No significant differences found educational attainment across quartiles (p 0.228). Younger (19-24 years) more prevalent lower quartiles, while older (45-64 showed higher scores 0.001). spouses had 0.007). MCS score improved better 0.033), although PCS did not show difference ( p 0.607). Mediation analysis revealed that significantly associated (β 0.169, 0.004) but BMI 0.004, 0.568). Aditionally, non-significant relationship -0.022, 0.505). Improving can enhance particularly among those spouses, no impact Since mediate these associations, nutritional strategies should prioritize alongside effectively women's QoL.

Abstract Background Within Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific, rising overweightness driven by demographic economic changes raises concerns for urban liveability. Existing food outlet classifications overlook nutritional content, requiring alternative analyses to assess how environments are shaping living. Methods We compiled geolocated data on 14,764 outlets across 2655 postal addresses in Singapore. The analysis incorporated built environment features, including transport networks green spaces. This dataset was linked socio-demographic BMI from 15,614 participants Multi-Ethnic Cohort Phase 2 study. Average calorie, carbohydrate, total fat, saturated fat along with proportion of meals exceeding 10% were estimated 234 residential zones. Multivariable logistic regression models assessed impact these exposures overweightness, adjusting socio-demographics environmental factors. Results Neighborhood higher availability calories, carbohydrates, positively associated being overweight. Specifically, a one-unit increase scores corresponded 6% (95% CI: 1%–12%), 5% (0.01%–11%), (0.3%–9%), (0.02%–9%) increased odds overweight, respectively. Reduced space also overweight risk. Conclusions Associations between nutrient-dense risk underscores critical importance planning strategies that facilitate healthier dietary behaviors better public health outcomes.

Abstract The rising phenomenon of obesity, a major risk factor for the development and progression type 2 diabetes, is complex multifaceted issue that requires comprehensive coordinated approach to be prevented managed. Although novel pharmacological measures combat obesity have achieved unprecedented efficacy, healthy lifestyle remains essential long‐term success any therapeutic intervention. However, this high level intrinsic motivation continued behavioural changes in face multiple metabolic, psychological environmental factors promoting weight gain, particularly context diabetes. This review intended provide practical recommendations holistic, person‐centred management, including evidence‐based expert addressing supportive communication, shared decision‐making, as well nutritional approaches achieve sustained loss.

Guidelines for encourage healthy lifestyles by promoting diets, engage physical activity avoid weight gain to achieve longer survival improved quality life. In recent years, there has been a growing interest possible beneficial role plant-based diets body control prognosis. Plant-based can be evaluated using dietary indices which provide quantitative measure how closely an individual’s diet aligns with pattern. However, is need distinguish unhealthy. This approach would address research gap that often overlooks specific types plant foods consumed. The aim this narrative review analyze may impact on survivors, synthesizing existing evidence discussing potential mechanisms implications. findings suggest importance considering as some include vegetarian low nutritional profile negatively weight. aspect could crucial preventing women considered factor poor prognosis reduced survival.
