Objectives Prompt HIV and STI diagnosis treatment is a public health priority relies on accessible testing. Technology-based approaches to distribute test kits have the potential increase access We evaluated acceptability uptake of vending machines in publicly available settings Brighton Hove (BH) Bristol, North Somerset South Gloucestershire (BNSSG), rapid self-test self-sample kits. Methods Seven were installed BH four BNSSG. User characteristics, proportion returned results, taken from machine database clinic records, combined with online questionnaires completed by self-recruited users analysed using Stata SPSS. Results 2536 dispensed over 12 months (April 2022 March 2023). The most popular (74% vends). 78% among aged 16–35 years 56% identified as male. 68% 59% had either not tested last or never for STIs, respectively. 51% via post, lower than local service (65%). 208 questionnaires. Convenience, desire instant increased confidentiality common reasons machines. 92% respondents thought user-friendly 97% would recommend service. Concerns about safety privacy while reported 42% 66% respondents. Conclusions This study demonstrates that are an acceptable effective means accessing infrequent testers general population can act horizontal intervention tackle STIs. Research needed understand optimal locations assure along long-term impact sexual services.

Sexually transmitted Chlamydia trachomatis infections remain common globally and most frequently are asymptomatic. The 2025 European C. guideline provides up-to-date guidance regarding indications for testing treatment of infections. It includes advice on urogenital extragenital including the use self-collected specimens; recommendation to only validated NAATs diagnosis; treat all with doxycycline as first line in preference single-dose azithromycin regimens. absence evidence limited value broad screening asymptomatic populations is also discussed.

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are increasing among men who have sex with (MSM). Screening can improve the detection and outcome of asymptomatic STIs in high-risk populations. Self-sampling may be a resource-optimized strategy; however, its diagnostic reliability compared to testing by healthcare professionals (HCPs) requires further investigation. In this prospective, multicenter cohort study high-income country, MSM sexual risk profile for were included. Sequential swabs STI nucleic acid-based diagnosis Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) performed after randomization, either through self-sampling or HCP-performed sampling. Baseline demographic information, behavior, acceptance feedback on recorded using an electronic questionnaire. Out 236 MSM, 47 individuals (19.9%) tested positive CT and/or NG self- For CT, sensitivity was 93.3% both sampling methods, while NG, it 90.0% 95.0% Our demonstrates that has comparable sampling, high MSM.

Background The effective testing of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) requires sampling from potential infection sites. This study aimed to assess the choice, satisfaction, and performance self-collected samples (SCS) sites for STI among transgender women in Brazil. Methods TransOdara was a multicentric, cross-sectional prevalence conducted 5 Brazilian cities. Using respondent-driven sampling, 1317 18 years or older were recruited. Participants completed interviewer-led questionnaires provided swab multiple (anorectal, oropharyngeal, genital) Chlamydia trachomatis (CT), Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG), human papillomavirus (HPV) testing. given choice SCS provider-collected (PCS) at each site. Results Most participants selected anorectal (74.9%; 95% confidence interval [CI], 72.4–77.3) genital (72.7%; CI, 70.2–75.1) sites, whereas fewer chose oropharyngeal (49.8%; 47.0–52.6). For future testing, most expressed preference (72.2%; 69.5–74.7) (70.2%; 67.6–72.7) There no significant difference positive test results CT NG between PCS HPV (penile neovaginal) Conclusions demonstrated high level acceptability usability self-sampling women. A evident comparable those PCS. findings suggest that multisite utilizing self-collection methods as option can be effectively integrated into sexual health services

Extragenital Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) infections are prevalent among men who have sex with (MSM). Self-sampling could potentially eliminate barriers to extragenital CT/NG testing for MSM that hard reach, refuse go clinician-based testing, or decline an examination. However, the required evidence determine whether self-collected specimens as accurate clinician-taken in terms of diagnostic accuracy was limited low middle income countries. We therefore compared rectal pharyngeal China. This a prospective convenience sample from 6 sexually transmitted infection (STI) clinics randomized order pharynx rectum, plus first-void urine, detection. performance clinician-sampling agreement, sensitivity, specificity. The acceptability self-sampling evaluated by questionnaire. Among 325 participants, prevalences CT NG were 13.6% 5.2% 1.5% 2.8%, respectively. agreements between tests 98.8% (κ = 0.95, 95% CI 0.89-1.00) site 99.4% 0.83, 0.60-1.00) site; 0.94, 0.86-1.00) 98.2% 0.72, 0.50–0.93) site. sensitivity specificity swabs follows: CT: 93.0% 99.6%; 100.0% 99.4%; NG: 88.9% 98.4%. Self-collection highly acceptable, showing 62.0% preferred over clinician-sampling; 90.2% would use detection again. screening should be recommended part STI services population. had good target trial registered Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, ChiCTR2300073473.
