Fructose has been considered as an additive from soda beverages. For the approval of new additives or to extend usage approved one, it is necessary conduct toxicological studies in order evaluate DNA damage induced by these compounds. Our study based on evaluating safety and nutraceutical potential (FRU), a cola beverage (Pepsi-cola, PEP), diet (Diet Coke, DCC), characterizing changes Drosophila melanogaster organism model human leukemia HL-60 cells performing different assays. results showed neither toxicity nor mutagenic activity FRU, PEP, DCC melanogaster, while only PEP exhibited protective effects antitoxity assay, showing 80% survival rate combined treatments. but not enhanced lifespan parameters up 23 more days at 5 mg/mL concentration.
