Notwithstanding the increased toxic heavy metals/metalloids (THMs) accumulation in (edible) organs owed to goat′s feeding habit and anthropogenic activities, chevon remains increasingly relished as a special delicacy Nigeria. Specific South-Eastern region, however, there is paucity of relevant data regarding prevalence THMs goat carcasses processed for human consumption. This work was, therefore, aimed investigate detection, distribution health risk assessment carcass consumption To achieve this, total 450 meat samples (kidney, liver muscle) were evaluated from 150 randomly selected two major slaughterhouses Enugu State. The distribution, well parameters followed standard procedures. Results revealed that at least one THM was detected 56% carcasses. Mean concentrations arsenic (As) 0.53 ± 0.10 mg/kg, 0.57 0.09 mg/kg 0.45 0.08 lead (Pb) 0.48 0.38 0.24 0.82 0.39 cadmium (Cd) 0.06 0.32 0.02 0.00 kidney, muscle tissues, respectively. estimated daily intakes (EDI) all above recommended safe limits. target hazard quotient (THQ) index (HI) computed As, Cd Pb fell below unity studied organs, which indicated no non-carcinogenic risks. Curtailing activities aid THM-contamination production/processing lines recommended. Screening Nigerian imperative, so ascertain toxicological safety meats intended

Arsenic is a naturally occurring metalloid and one of the few metals that can be metabolized inside human body. The pervasive presence arsenic in nature anthropogenic sources from agricultural medical use have perpetuated exposure to this toxic carcinogenic element. Highly exposed individuals are susceptible various illnesses, including skin disorders; cognitive impairment; cancers lung, liver, kidneys. In fact, across globe, approximately 200 million people potentially levels arsenic, which has prompted substantial research mitigation efforts combat extensive public health issue. This review provides an up-to-date look at arsenic-related challenges facing global community, current disease burden, resistance, shortcomings ongoing measures, discusses potential next steps.

Air pollution by particulate matter (PM) is one of the main threats to human health, particularly in large cities where levels are continually exceeded. According their source emission, geography, and local meteorology, pollutant particles vary size composition. Abstract Zinc metabolism at the cellular level is critical for many biological processes in body. A key observation disruption of homeostasis, often coinciding with disease progression. As an essential factor maintaining equilibrium, zinc has been increasingly spotlighted context development. Extensive research suggests zinc’s involvement promoting malignancy and invasion cancer cells, despite its low tissue concentration. This led to a growing body literature investigating metabolism, particularly functions transporters storage mechanisms during transportation under control two major transporter families: SLC30 (ZnT) excretion SLC39 (ZIP) intake. Additionally, this element predominantly mediated by metallothioneins (MTs). review consolidates knowledge on signaling underscores potential molecular pathways linking progression, special focus cancer. We also compile summary clinical trials involving ions. Given main localization cell membrane, targeted therapies, including small molecules monoclonal antibodies, offers promising avenues future exploration.

Abstract Many metals are essential for living organisms, but at higher doses they may be toxic and carcinogenic. Metal exposure occurs mainly in occupational settings environmental contaminations drinking water, air pollution foods, which can result serious health problems such as cancer.
