Background Depression and the increased risk of sarcopenia are prevalent among elderly population. However, causal associations between these factors remain unclear. To investigate potential association depression in older adults, this study was performed. Methods In baseline survey, a total 14,258 individuals aged 40 above from China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (2015) participated. We initially described prevalence disease. Then, logistic regression restricted cubic spline (RCS) were conducted to assess relationship sarcopenia. Subgroup analysis performed validate robustness findings. Additionally, we Mendelian randomization using inverse variance weighting estimator Furthermore, adopted six methods, including MR-Egger, simple median, weighted maximum likelihood, robust adjusted profile score (RAPS), MR Pleiotropy Residual Sum Outlier (MR-PRESSO), for sensitivity analyses. Results patients exhibited higher risks all five models adjusting different covariates ( P < 0.05). The RCS demonstrated linear subgroup analysis, observed participants 60−70, married or cohabiting individuals, non-smokers, non-drinkers, those with less than 8 h sleep, BMI below 24, hypertension (all results revealed that genetically proxied led reduction appendicular skeletal muscle mass Conclusion Our provides observational evidences can lead This finding emphasizes importance timely identification management depression, as well implementing targeted educational programs part comprehensive strategies prevent

Objective This study described adults their caregivers, explored potential correlates of use, highlighted implications for practice. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted unpaid (n=486). Primary outcomes were self-reported (devices functions) oldest care recipient. The concordance recipients also examined. Multivariable regression models separately recipients. Abstract As the elderly population expands, enhancing emergency department (ED) care by assessing frailty becomes increasingly vital. To address this, we developed a novel electronic Frailty Index (eFI) from ED health records, specifically designed to assess and predict hospitalization, in-hospital mortality, ICU admissions, 30-day readmissions. This retrospective, single-center study included patients 65 years old or older who presented of IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan, Italy, between January 2015 December 2019. was assessed using (eFI), based on cumulative deficit model, incorporating 45 deficits quantify frailty. Patients were divided into four quartiles eFI scores explore association levels adverse outcomes, including admission, readmission. The 21,537 (mean age 77.4, 50.7% males). median score 0.16. Hospitalization rates rose significantly with frailty, 20% least frail quartile 43% most frail. Similarly, mortality admissions increased markedly higher scores, climbing 0.44 5.0% across quartiles. readmission 9.9 19.8%. For every 0.01 increase score, odds ( P < 0.0001). Specifically, adjusted ratios (OR) for 3.55, 14.15, 4.70, 2.22, respectively 0.0001), compared quartile. integration settings can enable more precise risk stratification resource allocation, improving patient management healthcare delivery persons these urgent contexts.

Peer-volunteering schemes can facilitate health improvement via increasing physical activity levels. Understanding what motivates peer volunteers is valuable for the feasibility of volunteering schemes. This scoping review aims to explore motivations aged over 50 who participate in programs that promote activity. Four databases were searched March 2023 with no date restrictions.
