ABSTRACT Current understanding of corporate social responsibility (CSR) overlooks the impact internationalization on CSR practices, as it focuses specific countries. Hence, this paper systematically reviews literature to analyze how firms, while internationalizing, find themselves in need act upon their practices and implementation, thus going extra mile. Through an in‐depth content analysis 53 articles, four thematic groups were identified: (1) performance: Institutional differences between home country host country; (2) Reporting Emerging Market Multinational Enterprises' (EM‐MNEs) Internationalization; (3) Is antecedent or outcome firms' EM‐MNEs?; (4) The portrait developed firms. review highlights factors such environmental regulations, leadership, gaining legitimacy countries drivers stronger during internationalization. However, a key challenge is balancing standardization adaptation across borders. proposes integrative framework guide firms navigating complex relationship Finally, future research avenues may include study conflicting stakeholder demands pressures, well efforts can overcome reputational biases.
