The opioid epidemic has exposed a gulf in mental health research, treatment, and policy: Most patients with comorbid trauma-related disorder (TRD) use (OUD) (TRD + OUD) remain undiagnosed or unsuccessfully treated for the combination of TRD symptoms use. treatments tend to be psychotherapies that are not accessible practical many individuals OUD, due treatment models systematically incorporating principles harm reduction (HR). HR practices prioritize flexibility unequivocally improve outcomes save lives OUD. Considering urgent need OUD outcomes, we propose fields can meaningfully reconciled by integrating classic phasic TRD. Adding "prestabilization" phase – largely analogous precontemplation Stage Change creates opportunities advance clinical practice, policies potentially patient outcomes.

Background and Objectives: Traumatic events adversely affect the clinical course of obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD). Our study explores correlation between prolonged interpersonal trauma severity symptoms related to OCD anxiety disorders. Materials Methods: The follows a cross-sectional observational design, employing International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ) examine areas linked trauma, Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A), Yale–Brown Obsessive–Compulsive (Y-BOCS) assess anxious symptoms, respectively. Descriptive analysis, analysis variance (ANOVA), logistic regression analyses were conducted. Results: We recruited 107 OCD-diagnosed patients, categorizing them into subgroups based on presence or absence complex post-traumatic stress (cPTSD). ANOVA revealed statistically significant differences two groups in onset age (p = 0.083), psychiatric familial history 0.023), HAM-A, Y-BOCS < 0.0001). Logistic indicated association cPTSD scores Conclusions: coexistence exacerbates increases burden anxiety. Further advancements this field are crucial for mitigating impact early trajectory associated symptoms.

Background Previous research has indicated cognitive impairments in patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), specifically attention, memory, and executive functioning. However, there is limited knowledge about the profile of individuals complex PTSD (cPTSD), a new diagnosis ICD-11. Moreover, predictors impairment remain unclear. The present study aims to enhance understanding functioning its cPTSD compared non-complex (ncPTSD). Methods N = 64 participants ( n 34 cPTSD, 30 ncPTSD) completed psychometric questionnaires neuropsychological test set Cognitive Basic Assessment (COGBAT) assessing general index, visual First, results both groups were COGBAT norm sample. Secondly, group differences domains analyzed using student t -tests independent samples (cPTSD vs. ncPTSD). Thirdly, bivariate multivariate regressions examined influencing factors impairment. Results Both showed comparison group. Significant between ncPTSD found memory p .003) selective attention .004). In regression, type age significantly impact while PTSD, age, psychotropic medication significant effects on attention. Conclusions Given higher symptom severity deficits more intensive diverse interventions should be considered comprehensive treatment plans, for instance, training.

Published: March 4, 2025

This paper introduces the hypothesis of Psychedelic Iatrogenic Structural Dissociation (PISD), proposing that psychedelics may reactivate dissociated traumatic material, increasing risk psychological destabilization in trauma-exposed individuals. Grounded structural dissociation theory, this framework suggests can disrupt balance between daily functioning (the Apparently Normal Personality, ANP) and trauma-related responses Emotional EP), leading to resurfacing unintegrated memories. A review recent studies highlights persistent adverse effects associated with psychedelic use, including emotional dysregulation, identity fragmentation, derealization, perceptual disturbances, particularly among individuals early trauma histories. To mitigate these risks facilitate processing, integration practices, body-focused therapies, structured social support systems are proposed as key interventions. Additionally, emerging neurophysiological models suggest reconfigure dissociative processes through modulation entrenched patterns, potentially facilitating or vulnerability destabilization, depending on individual contextual factors. These findings underscore necessity trauma-informed screening, preparation, protocols enhance safety efficacy for vulnerable populations.

Background Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a significant health concern among adolescents and young adults, often resulting from adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). Dissociation, post-traumatic symptoms attachment style may have role in shaping such associations. Aims This study aims to provide unified model of the impact ACEs on NSSI, exploring complex stress disorder (cPTSD) dissociation as potential mediators predominant affecting Methods 1010 individuals attending last year high school participated this cross-sectional study. ACEs, cPTSD, NSSI were evaluated using self-report questionnaires. We fitted path with exogenous variables cPTSD sequential mediators. Secure, fearful preoccupied styles modelled grouping variables. Results Our findings showed that mediated subjects style, opposed those for whom ACEs-NSSI association. The extent to which complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD) can be conceptualized as a dissociative remains an ongoing debate. This study investigated the prevalence and correlates of symptoms in people with C-PTSD. We analyzed baseline data from international randomized controlled trial. A total 165 intervention seekers who met ICD-11 criteria for C-PTSD completed standardized self-report measures trauma, symptoms, depressive work social impairments. In this sample, only 42.3 % participants exhibited clinically significant symptoms. Dissociative had unique association impairments our C-PTSD, even after controlling trauma exposure does not support theory that is disorder. However, findings highlight importance recognizing dissociation
