Published: March 26, 2025

Purpose This study aims to comprehensively review and analyze research topics trends in the field of megaprojects by integrating bibliometric analysis with latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) topic modeling techniques. The objective is explore development dynamics key issues within this field, providing clear direction guidance for future research. Design/methodology/approach A total 1,652 journal articles related were collected from Web Science database. Initially, tools employed including annual publication counts, citation trends, major contributors keyword clustering. Subsequently, LDA techniques used identify establish co-citation clusters, thus a comprehensive summary current megaprojects. Findings identified confirmed 13 megaprojects, “urban construction management,” “collaborative governance relationship “resource management performance optimization,” “ecological protection environmental governance,” “stakeholder engagement social responsibility,” “project risk “social justice local “cost infrastructure “renewable energy sustainable development,” contract growth assessment,” “spatial capital political practice” safety management.” Based on these topics, summarized five megaproject research: scope management, resource sustainability. Originality/value employs an innovative methodological framework uncover evolutionary addressing gap existing literature regarding holistic analyses domain. Building findings, further provides theoretical support practical control, multi-stakeholder collaboration, optimization, complex These contributions hold significant value advancing knowledge accumulation enhancing practices field.

This article explores the concept of governance behaviors during project crises, which demand rapid responses. Grounded in Cynefin model for decision-making and inspired by Iftikhar et al., (2021) , we sought to explore greater detail challenge a particular common response crisis: manager replacement. We address as essentially two-level function: sensemaking under crisis conditions offering guidance within critical early stages replacement, when need is crucial. Finally, this offers some employment different complexity domains maximizing effective replacement steps.

Why are certain organization design arrangements enacted in a project-based organization? Building on extant literature, this article addresses fundamental question by explicating three distinct explanations of the raison d'etre salient arrangements: Functional, Legitimacy, and Agency. Conceiving these as coexisting, interacting logics organizing, argues to draw upon powerful concept logic multiplicity pave way for integrating diverse theoretical perspectives. Thus, contributes stream research project studies developing typology proposing forward pursuing pluralistic theorizing.

Megaprojects have a complex and evolving web of organisations arranged in multilevel multiphase structure, with intra- inter-organisational boundaries during the life cycle. This systematic review explores organisation design megaprojects, identifying processes for designing temporary megaproject organisational systems. The analyses 141 full articles from sample 10,078 papers presents three main contributions: theoretical lenses used to develop research eight decision dimensions influencing choices, most common capabilities. Published: Nov. 12, 2024

Purpose Mega construction projects (MCPs), characterized by their vast scale, numerous stakeholders and complex management, often face significant uncertainties challenges. While existing research has explored the complexity of MCPs, it predominantly focuses on qualitative analysis lacks systematic quantitative measurement methods. Therefore, this study aims to construct a model for MCPs using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation grey relational analysis. Design/methodology/approach This first constructs framework through literature review, covering six dimensions technical complexity, organizational goal environmental cultural information comprising 30 influencing factors. Secondly, matrix is constructed generalized bell-shaped membership function effectively handle fuzziness uncertainty in assessment. Subsequently, used calculate degree each factor, identifying weights overall complexity. Finally, weighted results project are derived combining with degrees. Findings To validate model’s effectiveness, 2020 Xi’an Silk Road International Conference Center as case study. The indicate that level moderate, being highest, followed informational empirical demonstrates can accurately reflect variations across different MCP be applied real-world projects. Originality/value systematically integrates establishing multidimensional addresses limitations previous studies focusing partial dimensions. Moreover, proposed combines analysis, enhancing accuracy objectivity while minimizing subjective bias. Lastly, broad applicability countries regions, providing scientific effective basis managing
