It is much more difficult to collect semen from small breed birds than large birds. The biggest reason for this situation that are very active and their cloaca smaller. To receive passerine birds, the must be in breeding season. Having females around during period will increase libido due male competition. Trimming hair both prevents risk of contamination provides adequate viewing angles. most commonly used method obtaining cloacal massage. Massage should done cranially abdomen towards cloaca. When bird ejaculates, it seen comes out seminal glomera with pressure applied laterally on collects exiting help a sterile hematocrit capillary tube. Sperm contaminated feces not taken as contaminated. In semen, motility examination important direction movement, speed rate movement spermatozoa. Due situation, there relationship between morphological structure spermatozoa This study aims give information about collection by canaries some methods semen.

Abstract Plastic waste and debris have caused substantial environmental pollution globally in the past decades, they been accumulated hundreds of terrestrial aquatic avian species. Birds are susceptible vulnerable to external environments; therefore, could be used estimate negative effects pollution. In this review, we summarize macroplastics, microplastics, plastic-derived additives plastic-absorbed chemicals on birds. First, macroplastics microplastics accumulate different tissues various birds, suggesting that birds suffer from microplastics-associated contaminants environments. Second, detrimental their derived absorbed individual survival, growth development, reproductive output, physiology, summarized as well known toxicological mechanisms plastics laboratory model mammals. Environmental pollution can result in poor sperm quality either directly or indirectly birds. However, adaptive and compensatory morphology changes motility improvements have rapidly evolved tree sparrows (Passer montanus) inhabiting polluted areas over the past 65 years. To identify genetic underpinnings of evolving phenotype, we carried out population genomics transcriptomics on sparrow populations two differently places. We identified a gene encoding serine/threonine protein kinase PIM1, which may drive rapid phenotypic evolution sperm. An unprecedented remarkable expansion PIM family, caused by tandem segmental duplication was subsequently observed genome. Most PIM1 duplicates showed testis-specific expression pattern, suggesting that their functions are related to male reproduction. Furthermore, elevated level consistent with our earlier findings longer faster swimming sites, indicating an important role for duplicated facilitating Our results suggest provides sources variation enable under environmental heavy metal pollution. The this study indicated genes be targets selection predominant adaptation change shed light stress.

Background: Canaries have attracted people’s attention with their colors, shapes and impressive songs. The fact that canaries are domesticated easy to obtain has made these birds attractive for songbird studies. In our study, canary semen was examined at different temperature values. This study aims determine the most efficient spermatozoa examination in canaries. Methods: this five values (36, 38, 40, 42 44°C) were determined. used 6 active male Gloster each group. After collection application, a 3-day break given rest. Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) expander, which is preferred by songbirds, research. diluted 1:2 water bath specified temperatures 42, immediately motility viability. Result: When results evaluated, it seen viability rate 38°C higher than other groups 40°C gave highest terms of motility. addition 38°C, swimming speed also found be more stable over wider area groups. As result, based on data obtained from can said appropriate 38°C.

ABSTRACT Sperm cryopreservation is a rather complex process that needs to be adapted wild and domestic bird species ensure adequate efficiency. This study aimed determine the usability of different cryoprotectants in Gloster canary sperm. For this purpose, sperm samples were collected from 12 2‐year‐old male canaries three times week using cloacal massage for 4 weeks. After individual evaluation, combined. Mixed divided into two groups study. Overall, 8% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) ethylene glycol (EG) used as cryoprotectants. drawn straws after adding Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) extender with high glucose ratio 1:1 frozen −80°C liquid nitrogen vapour then stored at −196°C. Frozen‐thawed semen evaluated regarding motility, vitality, plasma membrane integrity (hypoosmotic swelling test [HOST]), density abnormal spermatozoa rate. The highest motility value freezing thawing was determined EG group 31.667% ± 4.773%. In addition, normal morphology statistically significantly higher EG‐frozen group, whereas head tail abnormality low ( p < 0.05). DMEM containing more advantageous than DMSO spermatological parameters could long‐term storage
