While interactions between viruses and their vectors, as well host plants, have been extensively studied, the genetic mechanisms underlying tripartite remain largely unknown. In this study, phenotypic assays are integrated with molecular biology functional genomic approaches to elucidate involving tomato chlorosis virus (ToCV), a major threat production worldwide, whitefly, Bemisia tabaci, an insect vector, plants. ToCV infection induces of chlorophyll degradation product that acts volatile attractant for whiteflies. Furthermore, suppression Lhca4, gene encoding subunit light-harvesting complex I in by P9 protein leads neophytadiene biosynthesis. Overexpression Lhca4 reduced infection. OBP2, odorant-binding from B. capable binding is identified. Suppression BtOBP2 impaired vector's subsequent preference ToCV-infected The results not only reveal underpinnings, including P9, plant whitefly BtOBP2, governing virus-vector-plant interactions, but also highlight neophytadiene, specialized metabolite mediator intricate multitrophic suggesting new avenues managing vectored insects.

Hemiptera is one of the most significant orders insect pests, including whiteflies, true bugs, aphids, planthoppers, psyllids, and so forth, which have led to substantial economic losses in agricultural industries significantly affected food yields through their ability suck phloem sap crops transmit numerous bacterial viral pathogens. Therefore, explorations pest-specific, eco-friendly easy-to-adopt technologies for hemipteran pest control are urgently needed. To best our knowledge, microRNAs (miRNAs), endogenous non-coding small RNAs approximately 22 nucleotides length, involved regulating gene expression via direct recognition binding 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) target messenger (mRNAs) or by acting as a center competitive RNA (ceRNA) network at post-transcriptional level. This review systematically outlines characterization functional investigation miRNA biogenesis pathway such aphids planthoppers. In addition, we explored results sequencing observations miRNAs these suggest that obtained annotated high-throughput technology bioinformatic analyses contribute molting development, fitness, wing polyphenism, symbiont interactions insecticide resistance pests. Finally, summarize current advances propose framework future research extend data address potential limitations application miRNAs.
