Awareness or consciousness in the context of stimulus perception can directly be assessed well controlled test situations with humans via persons' reports about their subjective experiences stimuli. The full neural circuits of conscious perception remain unknown. Using a visual task, we directly recorded subcortical thalamic awareness potential (TAP).
