Towards Game-Based Assessment of Creative Thinking DOI

For decades, researchers have struggled with measurement problems related to the construct validity of divergent and convergent thinking in creativity assessments. In response, some called for battery-based approaches. Recently, digital games emerged as a potential alternative, offering increased scalability improved ecological validity. This article presents CREA: new, scalable, game-based assessment suite. CREA includes crea.tiles crea.blender, non-verbal featuring both modes, well crea.ideas – Alternative Uses Task, standard test thinking, crea.logic abstract reasoning. The novel game modes are constructed within same contextual environment theoretically motivated differences game-prompts understand generalize from emerging elicited behaviors. this study, 408 participants completed suite selected validation measures, representing largest study date. Both discriminant is demonstrated respect tests, correlations ranging r = .1–.4. Ten Traps for Non-Representational Theory in Human Geography DOI Creative Commons

Non-Representational Theory (NRT) emphasizes the significance of routine experience in shaping human geography. In doing so, theory largely eschews traditional approaches that have offered area-based, longitudinal, and synoptic formalisms for geographic inquiry. Instead, NRT prioritizes roles individualized often dynamic lived geographies as they unfold moment. To date, has drawn significant inspiration from synergies it shares with philosophy, critical geography, self-referential ethnography. These activities been tremendous advancing a concept, but theory’s strong ties to encounter invariably call practical exposition. Alas, applications concrete examples at scales beyond small case studies prove challenging, which we argue artificially constrains further development theory. this paper, examine some thorny problems present applying terms. Specifically, identify ten traps can fall into when moving actuality. include conundrums geographies, circularity representation, cognitive traps, issues mustering grappling detail, access issues, limitations empiricism, subjectivity, methodological challenges, translation, unwieldy nature process dynamics.
