The circulatory system receives ionizing radiation at various dose rates. Given mounting epidemiological evidence of elevated risks for diseases the (DCS), International Commission on Radiological Protection recently recommended first ever threshold DCS. The traditional training methods in radiological hot laboratories involve significant challenges, including the risk of radiation exposure and development radiophobia among learners. Virtual reality (VR) presents an innovative educational solution by simulating realistic lab environments procedures without associated risks. This mixed-method study investigates efficacy VR enhancing cognitive retention practical skills reducing students. All participants (video cohorts) were given a pre-test, same-day post-test, after 1 month, 3 months. In 3-month test, 13% control group scored > 80%, 87% 80% (6.69-fold more significant). simulated real-world accurately than videos, resulting increased confidence safety. Resulting training), decreased 1.52-fold; contrast, reduced 2.42-fold. These reductions indicate that was significantly effective video training. enhanced knowledge retention, radiophobia, safety confidence, fear about pursuing career nuclear medicine. Overall, created safer working environment, RT students responded positively instruction videos. Consequently, revealed key codes engagement, easy understanding, memory, safety, learning experiences, implementation curriculum, getting ready for clinical practice.

High-linear energy transfer (LET) radiation is generally thought to be more biologically effective in various tissues than low-LET radiation, but whether this also applies the circulatory system remains unclear. We therefore reviewed biological studies about effects of high-LET on system. identified 76 relevant papers (24 vitro, 2 ex vivo, 51 one overlapping). In vitro used human, bovine, porcine or chick vascular endothelial cells cardiomyocytes, while vivo hearts. mice, rats, rabbits, dogs pigs. The types were neutrons, α particles, heavy ions and negative pions. Most a single dose, although some investigated fractionation effects. Twenty-one estimated relative effectiveness (RBE) that ranged from 0.1 130, depending quality endpoint. The study of One Million U.S. Radiation Workers and Veterans, the Person Study (MPS), examines health consequences, both cancer non-cancer, exposure to ionizing radiation received gradually over time. Recently MPS has focused on mortality patterns from neurological behavioral conditions, e.g., Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's dementia, motor neuron disease such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. A fuller picture radiation-related late effects comes studying occurrence (incidence) conditions not leading death. Abstract In the next decade, International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) will issue set of general recommendations, for which evaluation relative biological effectiveness (RBE) various types tissue reactions would be needed. ICRP has recently classified diseases circulatory system (DCS) as a reaction, but not recommended RBE DCS. We therefore evaluated mean and uncertainty DCS by applying microdosimetric kinetic model specialized estimation reactions. For this purpose, we analyzed several data determined past animal experiments radius subnuclear domain best fit to each experiment single free parameter included in model.
