Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is a significant retinal vascular disorder that has been hypothesized to increase the risk of cerebrovascular accidents (CVA). Given shared pathology between retina and cerebral circulation, understanding association RVO stroke incidence critical for early intervention management. This systematic review meta-analysis aim evaluate CVA, including ischemic hemorrhagic subtypes, in patients with RVO. study followed Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines was registered PROSPERO (CRD42024557820). A search PubMed, Cochrane Library, Scopus, Web Science, Embase conducted from inception February 2025. Studies assessing CVA post-RVO adult (≥ 18 years) were included. Two independent reviewers performed selection, data extraction, quality assessment using Risk Bias tool Non-Randomized studies (ROBINS-I) used observational cohort studies. Meta-analysis Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA) software version 3.7, applying fixed-effects model low heterogeneity. Subgroup sensitivity analyses based on type (BRVO vs. CRVO) subtype (ischemic CVA). Publication bias evaluated Egger's test funnel plots. total 14 (n = 97,812 patients) The pooled event rate 37.5% (95% CI: 37.3%-37.8%), no heterogeneity (I2 0%, p 0.97). analysis showed both (37.8%; 95% 37.3%-38.3%) (32.7%; 32.3%-33.1%) occurred at similar rates across branch (BRVO) central (CRVO). mortality post-CVA 69.0% 68.4%-69.5%), highlighting severity outcomes this population. cardiovascular events, myocardial infarction, 15.7% 15.4%-16.0%), reinforcing need monitoring patients. deep thrombosis (DVT) relatively (0.05%) but still warrants clinical attention high-risk populations. minimal, as confirmed by (p > 0.24) plot symmetry. Abstract Purpose Postoperative endophthalmitis (POE) is a rare but severe complication of cataract surgery. While diabetes mellitus may increase the risk POE, relationship remains unclear. Methods A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted following PRISMA guidelines. PubMed, Scopus, Medline, Embase, Google Scholar searched for relevant studies up to September 10, 2024. The study included both randomized controlled trials observational that evaluated POE outcomes in surgery patients, comparing people with without diabetes. Random-effects models used calculate pooled odds ratios (OR) 95% confidence intervals (CI). Results Nine review, seven analyzed meta-analysis. on undergoing revealed higher incidence this group, ratio 1.174 (95% CI: 1.109 1.242; p = 0.000) an rate 0.261%, compared 0.242% Males had 1.634 times (p 0.048), while hypertension together increased by 3.961 < 0.001). Posterior capsule rupture (PCR) was associated significantly developing which also more common diabetes, OR 3.434 1.789 6.591; 0.0001). use postoperative intracameral topical antibiotics reduced (OR: 0.231; 0.00). Conclusions This shows have PCR those 3.434, respectively. administration reduces groups. Our highlights importance maintaining well-controlled blood sugar pressure before Additionally, extra caution should be taken during prevent PCR, appropriate antibiotic considered minimize POE.

Primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) is a significant cause of blindness globally, particularly in Asian populations, where it accounts for 25% cases. Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) has emerged as promising treatment PACG, but its efficacy varies across studies. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the effectiveness SLT reducing intraocular pressure (IOP) and compare outcomes between PACG primary open-angle (POAG). A systematic search was conducted PubMed, Scopus, Medline, EMBASE up July 2024 using predefined criteria. Studies assessing patients with were included. Data extraction included study characteristics, parameters, outcomes, such mean post-intervention IOP reduction failure rates. Statistical analysis performed pooled estimates 95% confidence intervals (CI) through Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software. Of 754 potentially relevant articles assessed, 7 met inclusion The post-SLT among significantly decreased 17.30 mmHg (95% CI: 16.99-17.61; p = 0.0001). rate 7.95% 6.15-10.28%; 0.00001). reported varying trends medication use need further interventions patients. comprehensively examined treating multiple Despite variations sample sizes, demographics, locations, effectively reduced demonstrated statistically decrease IOP, highlighting therapeutic benefit despite notable heterogeneity
