Abstract
There
is
a
substantial
amount
of
literature
that
suggests
animals,
and
specifically
animals
kept
as
pets,
can
have
positive
effect
on
wellbeing.
Research
exploring
the
impact
wellbeing
in
care
homes
mainly
concerns
visiting
well
shared
communal
pets.
In
light
lack
research
regarding
personal
pets
homes,
aim
this
study
was
to
explore
what
experience
keeping
pet
home
means
for
residents’
sense
Semi-structured
interviews
were
conducted
with
seven
residents
who
currently
living
their
home.
Interviews
analysed
using
Interpretative
Phenomenological
Analysis
(IPA).
revealed
four
master
themes
deemed
be
relevant

Introduction:
Engagement
