Abstract Robotic technology is expected to transform rehabilitation settings, by providing precise, repetitive, and task-specific interventions, thereby potentially improving patients’ clinical outcomes. Artificial intelligence (AI) machine learning (ML) have been widely applied in different areas support robotic rehabilitation, from controlling robot movements real-time patient assessment. To provide overview the current landscape impact of AI/ML use robotics we performed a systematic review focusing on AI broad perspective, encompassing pathologies body districts, considering both motor neurocognitive rehabilitation. We searched Scopus IEEE Xplore databases, studies involving human participants. After article retrieval, tagging phase was carried out devise comprehensive easily-interpretable taxonomy: its categories include aim within system, type algorithms used, location robots sensors. The selected articles span multiple domains diverse aims, such as movement classification, trajectory prediction, evaluation, demonstrating potential ML revolutionize personalized therapy improve engagement. reported highly effective predicting intentions, assessing outcomes, detecting compensatory movements, insights into future interventions. Our analysis also reveals pitfalls this area, explainability issues poor generalization ability when these systems are real-world settings.

With the increase in number of stroke patients, there is a growing demand for rehabilitation training. Robot-assisted training expected to play crucial role meeting this demand. To ensure safety and comfort patients during training, it important have patient-cooperative compliant control system robots. In order enhance motion compliance hierarchical adaptive strategy that includes patient-passive exercise proposed. A low-level backstepping position controller selected accurate tracking desired trajectory. At high-level, an admittance employed plan trajectory based on interaction force between patient robot. The inverse kinematics problem of exoskeleton rehabilitation robots is challenging due to the lack a standard analytical model, resulting in complex and varied solution process. This complexity especially pronounced redundant upper limb robots, where inefficient solutions hinder robot's ability adapt kinematic shape limb. paper proposes modeling method based on multi-objective optimization address robots. We analyzed validated this using robot system developed by ourselves. First, we established model defining end-position function, joint motion comfort energy consumption safety, human-like constraints. Then, was designed Improved Equilibrium Optimization (IEO) algorithm its computational performance terms ability, accuracy, robustness. Finally, experimentally tested with IEO discrete objectives continuous training trajectories system. results show that incorporating constraints into can not only quickly solve but also significantly improve shape. Furthermore, it has better accuracy stronger robustness than other algorithms when solving algorithm.
