Thirteen
species
of
North
American
lizards
are
remarkable
because
only
females
exist,
which
reproduce
by
cloning
unfertilized
eggs.
Their
closest
relatives
sexually,
with
eggs
fertilized
sperm
from
males,
as
in
most
vertebrates.
The
unisexual
originated
through
hybridization,
dispensing
sex
and
males

generation.
