Shifting boundaries, extended minds: ambient technology and extended allostatic control

Abstract
This
article
applies
the
thesis
of
extended
mind
to
ambient
smart
environments.
These
systems
are
characterised
by
an
environment,
such
as
a
home
or
classroom,
infused
with
multiple,
highly
networked
streams
technology
working
in
background,
learning
about
user
and
operating
without
explicit
interface
any
intentional
sensorimotor
engagement
from
user.
We
analyse
these
context
work
on
“classical”
mind,
conditions
“trust
glue”
phenomenal
transparency,
find
that
ill-suited
describing
our
then
draw
active
inference
framework,
theory
brain
function
which
casts
cognition
process
embodied
uncertainty
minimisation,
develop
version
grounded
ontology,
where
boundaries
understood
be
multiple
always
shifting.
Given
this
more
fluid
account
we
argue
environments
should
thought
allostatic
control
systems,
less
invisibly
support
agent’s
biological
capacity
for
minimising
over
interlocking
timescales.
Thus,
functionality
so
doing,
utilise
markedly
different
classical
mind.

En
este
artículo
presentamos
una
primera
aproximación
arqueológica
a
las
repoblaciones
forestales
del
franquismo.
Nuestro
objetivo
es
comenzar
dibujar
un
campo
inédito
partir
de
adaptación
fuentes
históricas
y
etnográficas
la
mirada
arqueológica.
Desde
esta
perspectiva,
afín
historia
integral
inspiración
gramsciana,
caracterizamos
política
forestal
franquista
como
dispositivo
pasivización
orientado
modificar
memoria
social
territorio
mediante
«borrado
cultural»
los
paisajes
históricos.
A
esto
se
añade
el
crecimiento
masas
forestales,
que
ha
redundado
en
naturalización
estos
espacios
legado
político
jurídico-administrativo
proceden.

abordar
problema,
proponemos
caracterización
franquismo

nociones

that
addiction
can
be
conceptualized
as
a
disruption
of
an
agent’s
Markov
blanket
-
the
statistical
boundary
separating
internal
states
from
external
environment
under
active
inference.
Addiction
arises
when
becomes
overly
rigid,
assigning
excessive
precision
to
narrow
set
sensory
inputs
and
associated
with
addictive
stimulus.

compulsive
behaviors
aimed
at
immediate
rewards
while
sacrificing
exploration
flexible
action
policies
would
reduce
uncertainty

long-term
fit
environment.
The
addicted
agent
trapped
